Hopefully this isn’t a silly question but are the Sifaka in the lemur walkthrough? Or do they not do well in walkthrough’s

At one point they had animals both within the walkthrough exhibit and in a dedicated exhibit; this is no longer the case, but I don't recall which exhibit still contains the species.

They always seemed fine in the walkthrough as far as I could tell, incidentally.

Yes the Sifaka are just through the doorway from the area with the walkthrough and opposite the mongoose and the big greenhouse with the carnivorous plant display.

If I recall correctly Maitso the Sikaka had access to the walkthrough but the others including those still there didn’t and so it seems they chose not to integrate them.

The signs on the walkthrough exit still feature the Sifaka as a bit of ‘history’.

They seemed just the same as the other lemurs in the walkthrough who all seem pretty well behaved and able to extract themselves from any rare visitor weirdness.

Seeing the Sifaka at CWP is one of my favourite zoo experiences, I just find them fascinating. They seem to do well and have bred of course, but I’ve always felt the ‘L’ shaped enclosure is too small for them and that they deserve to have more space to really use their extraordinary leaping skills much more?

Yes I’ve always thought it doesn’t appear a great sized enclosure/limiting of their behaviour. Bearing in mind though CWP have done well with sifaka over the years and the studbooks are very tightly managed/coordinated. So I imagine the crowned sifaka EEP would have to be happy with all aspects of husbandry from diet to enclosure design.
