Fun visit today though it was cold and rained all day without stopping, but lots of activity animal wise.
The main hard standing car park has had a new row added to it with a new border planted.
The new covered picnic area near Little Africa has been completed as the winter closure ends,
and the re-surfacing work around the park looks to be complete with a new surface, cleaned walls, aviary rope stand offs and benches between the car park and the rear entrance to the walled garden
There has also been surfacing work and new bed edges around the front of the lion house
The lion signage has been temporarily removed, the lions were there, roaring in the rain.
Will be interesting to see what the raised bed / mound is between the railway and the car park near the rhinos, it's a bit of a mini hill.
The train was running. I never remember it starts early for half term then stops again, so was happily standing on the tracks watching the White storks before realising I was going to be run down, albeit slowly.
Good to see a young Palma Wallaby poking its head out of the pouch in the enclosure near the flamingoes. Looked like another new (little bigger than fingernail sized) Naked Mole rat in one of their nest spaces in Little Africa.
Am guessing some of the Sclater's crowned pigeons have gone off show or moved on as there were only four in the Tropical House. Maybe making space for more chicks, they are a productive group. The Tropical House work looks complete now with all the plants tidied up across the whole space, as everyone has mentioned, it is so much lighter.
Wildlife wise there was a nice pair of Green woodpeckers in the big trees behind the camels.
