The park will be closed on the 19/20th as well due to heavy snow!
New Ground Cuscus
Doris ,the ground cuscus, has a revealed she has had a male offspring
called Viking.He is 110 days old.The enclosure is located next to the gift
shop.If you are lucky you can see him leaving her pouch!

When I visited in early January I saw the joey out of the pouch... Must have been very lucky as it was the first time I had been Cotswolds wildlife park and seeing the species!
Clouded Leopards at Cotswold
A large clouded leopard enclosure is being built in the smaller walled garden area opposite and adjacent to the bamboo lemurs/yellow mongoose enclosure.This will encorporate the lemur enclosure and the long defunct squirrel monkey enclosure. The bamboo lemurs have been moved to where the sifakas were in a cage within the madagascan section.The sifakas are now in the walkthru.The other cage is occupied by a trio of black and white ruffed lemurs. Work has now been completed on the restaurant.

Does that mean Cotswold no longer have Jaguarundi in the collection?
If this is the case, this would make Hamerton the only UK collection with oncilla and jaguarundi.
As a season ticket holder I am a regular visitor to the park and the Pallas Cats were definitely there each time I visited last year. They are opposite the Snowy Owl & Great Grey Owl enclosures, between the train station and the playground. The enclosure is set back from the main pathway, so I can see how you might have missed it.
Nice species which is unfortunatly kept at too few collections and bred in even fewer !

A few items noted -
- Alaotran gentle lemurs now in the walk-through with other species
- A couple of kingfishers ( unlabelled , I think collared ) in Tropical House
- Trumpeters and young scarlet ibis in 2 halves of previous Jaguarundi enclosure
- newly arrived , from France , young male Asiatic lion mixed with old female
- 4 2012 Morelet's crocodiles on show in Reptile House
- Great hornbills not mixed , in adjoining aviaries
- 2 young scimitar-horned oryx seen
- dark big male giraffe looked good but 2 smaller ones seemed in less good condition , with missing tail tufts
- white-faced saki and squirrel mokey labelled in enclosure behind colobus , not seen
- burrowing owl aviary rebuilt , other next to it demolished
- new clouded leopard enclosure will not be very tall , which is a shame ( see photo )

Don't forget the absolutely gorgeous Crowned Sifaka ;-)
