Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens Cotswold Wildlife Park news 2013-2014

Been for a walk around this afternoon and was very disappointed to find the new clouded leopard enclosure is now going to house ground hornbills. I'm led to believe that the clouded leopards are to be leaving the collection.

Well thats different to what I was told last weekend,as I was told the Amur Leopard is leaving,so I guess we will have to wait and see what happens now!

the Clouded Leopards will now be going into the Amur Leopard exhibit as she will be leaving us. Plans had to be changed due to unforeseen circumstances.

A few items noted -

- dark big male giraffe looked good but 2 smaller ones seemed in less good condition , with missing tail tufts

Any idea where the big fellow is from?
Last time I checken they only had 2 6-7 year olds (Koife had died).

Current herd consists of Wallace (a hybrid born 2005 at Blair Drummond) Century, an ex Longleat Rothschild and Jake aka J (another Roths) who was born at Woburn in 2009

... J came to Burford with his half brother Icarus (Woburn 2008) but he died last year following a foot injury, leaving them with the current trio

@ Nisha

Jake is not correct, i think his real name is JAMBO: born 24.07.09!

And to compleat: Century is not only an ex Longleat, he is also an ex Colchester,
he was at Colchester from 2008 till 2010!

J aka Jake is correct, just dunno his birth date or parentage.
Jambo is another Woburn offspring sent in 2012 to Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster.

Anyone know whether the new clouded leopard exhibit is in the finishing stages. Have the cloudies already taken up the space? I always thought they were in something of a blind spot (now I dunno necessarily think that is a bad thing as cloudies really need a retreat ..).

What was posted as going to be the new Clouded Leopard enclosure,is now going to be for the Abyssian Ground Hornbills. The Clouded leopards are going to have what currently houses the Amur Leopard, when this species leaves the collection!

There has been an update regarding the Amur Leopard & Clouded Leopards on the Cotswold Wildlife Park Facebook Page.

The Amur Leopard left for France yesterday and arrived safely in her new home this morning. The adult pair of Clouded Leopards will move in to their new enclosure (hopefully tomorrow) and last years litter of cubs will be leaving the park today.

I did try to post a link to their post, but I don't really know how to do it - Sorry!!

Cotswold just send out a young female Pallas Cat to pair up with a male at Jardin des Plantes in Paris

Oh yes, ... we have another breeding facility! Might I say congrats - good on you to the staff there we spoke sometime ago on both rhinos and giraffe at the park and what might happen in future. :)

Any idea on the sex of the calf?

Any idea on the sex of the calf?

Nothing confirmed yet - Appears that she/he was born in the outside paddock from the picture on there Facebook so chances are they haven't been able to have a proper look yet

Excellent news - The Rhino calf is doing well and even better, It's a female! :D
