Cuscus left collection?

A pair of green aracari (Pteroglossus viridis ) now occupy the enclosure in the porch exit to the tropical house. Neither cuscus were on display. May be in mammal breeding centre.?
Three young emus have arrived and share the enclosure with last two very elderly emu and Palma male wallabies .
Astrid the first White rhino born at CWP is due to move to a collection in Germany in June .
The Eland have been returned to Woburn.
The wolves were very active in the cold and their howling could be heard around the park.

Interesting; I would not be surprised if these were among those bred at Chester last year.

When I visited about 10 days ago, I understood that both cuscuses were temporarily offshow, until the aracari are settled and moved over into the current lorikeet(?) aviary (the one just outside the Tropical House exit).

I've just added a few photos of the aracari to the gallery.
 
Visitors now advised to stay away all weekend!

Due to the heavy persistent rainfall recently, and subsequent water-logging of our grass car-park, visitors are strongly recommended to delay their visit and are advised not to attempt to visit the Park today (Friday 8th April), Saturday 9th April or Sunday 10th April.
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your consideration at this time.
 
This must be costing them a fortune. If I were in charge, I think the sorting out of the car parks might have become an immediate aim!

Definitely! They obviously have a small amount of tarmac car parking (a lot of it for disabled & coaches), but presumably they are still open. It is an unusual situation to remain open but tell people not to visit, though I know Chester did the same for different reasons a few weeks ago.

Grass car parking is a problem in other places too, I worried whether I'd be able to move my car when I wanted to leave Twycross last Easter!
 
Don't think it has been reported but the Asian lioness has given birth to cubs, three from what I could see today. Didn't see the Giant Anteater baby sadly. Any questions, do ask away!

Someone posted a photo of one on Facebook on the tenth; so cute!
 
Little Africa New Exhibit

A new exhibit has opened called "Little Africa".it is housed in the old zebra stable block and yard .As you enter via the yard to the side of the block there are Kirk's Dik Dik and singleton of East African Crowned Crane and Stanley Crane.Upon entering the stable block there is a small nocturnal exhibit with Lesser Bush baby and Malagasy giant jumping rats.This is followed by a herp section with Peacock frogs,Tiger Beetles and Elecric Blue Gecko..There are then large exhibits for Neumann's Grass Rats, Naked Mole Rats and an excellent exhibit of a large group of Gundi complete with artificial rocks.

The Eastern Crown Cranes have two new chicks and the singleton from last years brood has moved to Little Africa

Interesting, do you know if the Gundi are the only ones in the UK ? Any more details, where are they from, how many ?
