Anything would help this little zoo, as they only have about 35 mammals (total number, not just species:)) and a large assortment of birds.
 
Interesting they have to go to South Africa (presumably DeWildt) to get it. I am sure this is because they are not AZA that they cannot get one from the U.S. There are a couple of other private, non-AZA facilities in U.S. that also bought their cheetahs from DeWildt (Cat Haven in California, Leopards Etc in California [although they just changed their name] and some private place in Florida - the one where they attacked the owner).
 
A trio of month-old cougars have been added to the zoo:

The Pacific Northwest zoos currently have a lot of young cats: Oregon has a young cougar and 3 baby caracals; Point Defiance has a pair of year-old tiger cubs as well as 2 baby clouded leopards; Woodland Park has a baby ocelot; and Cougar Mountain Zoo now has a trio of month-old cougars.
 
It seems as if the long-awaited arrival of both otters and cheetahs at this small zoo fell by the wayside years ago, but the good news is that a Grey Wolf exhibit approximately an acre in size is nearing completion in the south-east corner of the facility. Also, the old chain-link lemur cages and small parrot/macaw aviaries are either demolished or all off-exhibit according to the zoo's map on its website.

Other news between November 2016-December 2020:

On April 20th, 2017, the zoo announced that they have acquired (0.1.3) reindeer named Raya, Roka, Rada, and Ruza. The zoo also announced that a (1.0) reindeer was born a week prior.

On May 12th, 2019, the zoo announced that (0.0.2) reindeer were born.

On April 30th, 2020, the zoo announced that a (1.0) white Bengal tiger named Álmos passed away earlier in April, due to natural causes.

On July 20th, the zoo announced that (1.1) red-fronted macaws were born on May 31st and May 22nd respectively. Their names are Bamba and Cocha.

On January 8th, the zoo announced that a (0.1) swamp wallaby was born. On April 8th, the zoo revealed its gender, female.

On July 14th, it was reported that the zoo is bringing back their animal encounters, which have been closed since COVID.

On September 24th, the zoo announced they have acquired a (1.0) green-winged macaw named Pirate.

On May 14th, the zoo announced its gender (0.1). On June 3rd, the zoo announced its name, Nymeria.

On May 31st, the zoo announced that (0.0.2) blue-throated macaws named Beri and Cruz hatched on March 25th and March 28th respectively.

On August 3rd, the zoo announced that they acquired (0.0.2+?) alpacas which are now on exhibit.

On July 2nd, the zoo announced they built a new exhibit for African crested porcupines which is now open to the public.

ALICE the East African Crowned Crane escaped the zoo, then has been brought back
Cougar Mountain Zoo on Instagram: "Alice is back home from Wonderland! ❤️ Just before midnight last night, Alice — our curious East African crowned crane — was safely recovered and brought back to the zoo after a brief solo adventure. Around 9 PM, a kind resident on Lake Sammamish spotted her in their yard along the waterfront and quickly reached out. Our team was nearby, got eyes on her, and waited for additional staff and volunteers to assist. At 11:57 PM, Alice was gently and safely retrieved without incident. She is now back at the zoo, under the supervision of our staff and veterinarian, and will be closely monitored after her journey. Hatter, her boyfriend, is happy to have her back by his side! We’re incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from our amazing community. Your sightings and positivity helped us stay focused in the right area and wait for the perfect opportunity. A special thank you to Chuck and Claudia for your quick report and warm hospitality — your help made all the difference.
