All above 50's in England can now book an appointment for their first jab.
I just went online to book mine, but got a message saying I had missed my appointment, but hadn't received a date

@TeaLovingDave how are you feeling today?

Definitely much improved - the aching is less pronounced, the headache is entirely gone and the fatigue has moved from "even trying to stand up or walk between rooms makes me so exhausted I want to sleep" to "just a bit worn out" :) so it is definitely a short-lived reaction.

On-line you will need to be persistent and have some time to spare. The system aborts continuously and each time it does. you need to start afresh. Luckily I was able to delegate to our secretary, but she was on-line for almost two hours continuously refreshing before a pair of bookings suddenly worked and was confirmed. Now we need to 'manage my appointments' and try to get the venue changed for my second jab.
On-line, you will need to book the second jab too, as the system wont accept just booking the first - BUT, if you book via your own doctors, they will only give you the first as they are unable to offer a date for the second. Strange...?

I got the Moderna vaccine on the 6th this month. Completely painless aside from the arm used to administer the vaccine being sore for a couple of days and some flu-like symptoms; all of these being normal and lasting only a day in the latter. The best part is that I only needed the one shot.

Annoying, but I am booked now. The only local location kept aborting as you said, but I got a booking at a chemist in Peterborough (after taking your warning about the cattle market set ups) for tomorrow and the first week of June.

Spoke a little too soon on that :p my regular evening walk around the block for some fresh air (a total of about three miles) caused my energy levels to crash, and I was asleep by 10.30pm.... and as all and sundry on here know, I'm usually such a night owl that I am regularly awake until beyond 3am!

So now I know to take it easy and not over-exert myself for a few days.

I was provided my second date on arrival at my first jab, for what it's worth :)

Second day. Been having fatigue all day, as well as headaches. The fatigue goes in and out: I rest for a while, I feel okay for a short time, then I'm tired again. I hope I'm better tomorrow, I really want to go to the park.

Oh well, cocked that up didn't I. Booking on the NHS site, I didn't finish off the booking after getting the dates, so no reference numbers, so not on the list, so not getting in. Bum. Myself and the dozens of other people were surprised to see so many queuing for a pharmacy vaccination, so I've rebooked for a cattle market setup tomorrow as it can't be much worse.

I've been quite fortunate; with my first dose (Pfizer-BioNTech) I had a mildly achy arm the next day with some mild nausea but was otherwise well. By the second day after the jab I felt completely normal. I actually caught COVID in between doses, and was expecting a significant reaction in response to my second dose - fortunately it went better than expected: I had some occasional mild cramps in my legs on stretching, I felt rough for the day, and my arm was very sore, but once more everything quickly got better. No fever or serious reaction with either dose.

After my error on Friday and a wasted trip to Peterborough, I managed to complete my 1st vaccination 20 miles the other way from home on saturday and it was a breeze. No waiting around really and details entered on tablets, rather than on paper as it was in the chemists.
I tried to change my second dose location yesterday on the website, but it kept treating me as a first dose and I got an email saying I'd cancelled the second dose! This morning it seemed to have sorted itself out and I managed to get an appointment in my home town.
As for side effects, nothing at all.

Glad you got everything sorted in the end :)

Received my first vaccine on January 15th and last on Feruary 12th, the worse symptom besides the sore vaccination was a minor headache. Most of my fellow staff members got really sick following their second dose, flu like symptoms from what it sounded like. Luckily was able to get both vaccines done under Kaiser Permanente and was pretty streamlined from my experience :)

Was finally able to schedule my first dose for this upcoming Wednesday. It's gonna be the Moderna vaccine. So I am definitely excited. When I am fully done I hope to be able to look forward to visiting some of the family members I have not seen since the pandemic began (already vaccinated) and maybe even get back to the Bronx Zoo which I miss so much :) It's nice to have some hope.

I had my first jab (AZ) on 4th March at St. Helens Rugby Ground, very organised, less than 15 mins in and out. No side effects, no sore arm. I'll take that! Next jab late May, hopefully same again.
I'm convinced that I had Covid back in late April 2020 being asymptomatic.
Anyone not sure, my advice is please do it for yourself and others.

I had my second Pfizer jab at 16;30 today, so far I've not had a reaction though the side effects from the first one started 24 hours after the jab so still time.

For what it's worth it's been over 24 hours since my second dose of Pfizer and the reaction hasn't been as bad as the first dose. I felt perfectly well until I walked to the shops and carried a heavy bag of shopping home, after that I felt as if I had a mild hangover for several hours. My arm wasn't as sore this time around which I'm pleased about.

Mrs Pootle had her first jab yesterday and today she has been cold, tasting metallic in the mouth and generally exhausted. Back in April 2020 she lost her sense of taste and smell for nearly 2 weeks, no tests then but we assume we had 'it'.
