Is he on show now? And if so where? I'm planning on going to see him this week and don't want to miss him!

From what I've read, he's in the Bay of Rays.

Oooh, that seems a bit shallow for a crab with 5ft legs! Are they sure it won't get out?
Thanks for the reply, I'll try to get some photos when I go.

they don't move well out of water ;)

My photos can now be found in the gallery. I can confirm that she is a female, and enormous! I made some attempt to show scale next to a barrel and lobster trap. I hope she has a much bigger exhibit in Belgium because she's much too cramped in the ray pool.

I've added a few more shots of Crabzilla from my visit today - she really is a bit of a beast.

Meanwhile, other new additions since my last visit include these spectacular beasties:

...and, very excitingly, Hammerhead Sharks - not Bonnetheads, but proper little Hammerheads - I think Scalloped Hammerhead (Sphryna lewini) but as they're not yet labelled I'll need to contact the centre to confirm.

Do i detect a sense of excitement towards a sea life centre:eek:
Well i never:D

It was actually the most exciting visit to a SeaLife Centre I've had in a long time! Me and robmv were there for nearly 2 hours - longer than we normally bother with!

I think the pair of you need to see a doctor as thats not normal for the pair of you.:D

Now when can i get to Birmingham:D

Now I'm happy that I bought year passes, those hammerheads were not there when I was!! I want to see!
The threadfins were stunning though, really impressive.

I'm not aware of any others - SeaLife are pitching these as 'The First in Europe' and I don't know of any examples to counter this (as they clearly don't count Bonnetheads).

On the other hand, I wouldn't be at all surprised if there'd been some before that SeaLife don't know about.

Palma Aquarium in Majorca has hammerheads. I saw them myself last year and they were definitely labelled as hammerheads at least, though since I'm no fishy expert I guess they could have been bonnetheads mislabelled?

According to Zootierliste.de, Palma do indeed have Bonnethead sharks.

It's not impossible for that to be wrong, however.

I'd believe that, they're cheeky sods though, its even on their website - Look under gardens
It's still the best aquarium I've ever seen though, it makes all the sea life centres look dreadful in comparison.

Well, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and put it down to mistranslation! :D
