Cryptozoology

It is far easier for the human mind to create something out of whole cloth than most people realize, especially the executives in Hollywood. Humans are programed to see images and patters where none actually exist (a phenomena known as pareidolia). My guess is that this explains a lot of what we call "cryptozoology."

Cryptids are just new species that haven't been scientificly discovered yet (if they're real) or that are thought to be Extinct but still survive. I think some are real and others are fake. It is pretty easy to tell the difference most of the time. Some that once exsisted may have gone Extinct and others may have just gotten rarer or learned to avoid people (as I believe the Thylacine may have).

Chlidonias- What's a "gallimaufry"
P.S.- You have to coolest name ever!!

I think it was directed at you as well.....:D

:D I take one as a compliment, and one as a statement of fact.

I have thick skin as I have grown accustomed to condescension here, but don't direct it at the 15 year old kid. Pick on someone your own size folks.
:D I think Bigfoot and the Flying Spaghetti Monster are more real than a made-up country like Tuvalu anyway. ;)

I may be 15 but I know quite a lot about many things zoological and I'm probably bigger than most of you as I'm 6ft. 5in. tall and still growing!!:D

I love the Flying Spaghetti Monster! He's/She's actually part of a joke I have with some friends. What are its origins anyway?

FSM came into being in Kansas as a response to growing concerns that the state school board was going to start requiring the teaching of creationism.

Interesting. The creature has made an appearance in a game. I don't remember the name but I can look it up on YouTube as I remember the video that it was in but YouTube isn't working to well on my Lenovo where I am in NY right now.

P.S.- This is my second Lenovo this year. I pluged the first one into my bedroom outlet to charge about a week after got it and it shut off and never turned back on and the new replacement is extremely slow and doesn't work very well. This has nothing to do with Cryptids but I like to complain

Yes, I am pretty sure that you know more than me about zoology, so I wouldn't want you to lose enthusiasm because of some out of place condescending remarks. DDCorvus I think had some constructive comments about ways to improve your knowledge seeking. I would add to that and say that a lot of questions that you pose (eg gallimaufry and FSM) could be answered with a quick Google search. ;) You are about a foot taller than me. :D

I know what FSM is. All the hurtful comments come from Chlidonias and jbnbsn99:D. They've been there on every thread I've posted on and have always jumped to correct or critisize me. Neither are satisfied until the new guy has been put in his place!!:D

You guys could have just said hodge-podge by the way.

Still growing, too!!

have you been replaced by someone else in your day's absence? No-one has been picking on ThylacineAlive or been condescending that I can see. In fact he seems to have cottoned on pretty much immediately that nothing said to him has been anything more than friendly jibes.

gallimaufry was a word used in the Marine Mammal Zoo thread (I can't remember the thread's precise name) and I've been looking for an excuse to use it myself ever since.

No you've just been picking on me:D
