For the last 4 years i have bred and exhibited Chinese Hamsters (Cricetus griseus) and would consider myself one of the most succesful breeders in the UK throughout the last 3 years or so(Forever Hamsters - Home). In the last 18-24 months i have slowly moved into exotic species.
I have now converted completely over to exotic species and also keep several british species. The most exciting recent additions were my pair of European Garden Dormice (Eliomys quercinus) i don't know of any private breeders in the UK with these other than myself, i have been trying to find zoo's with them so there could be an option of exchanging offspring in the future but with no success (if you know of a zoo keeping these please let me know).
Also does anyone know if any UK zoo's are currently keeping European Hamsters (Cricetus cricetus), there are several in europe and i know Marwell and London zoo have both had them in the last 5 years or so but neither have them currently as far as i am aware.
Anyway before i bore you completely with just text here are pictures of most of the species i keep. Southern-Exotics - Photo Gallery
I have cut down the number of species i keep quite a lot recently as i have chosen to completely refurbish the animal room, all my animals will now be kept in a minimum of 120x60x60cm habitats... i am also trying my best to make the habitats look as natural as possible. Here is my latest Roborovski's Hamster Enclosure (not finished in the picture)
I would normally post more pictures into threads but am not sure on the rules about external images from sites such as photobucket?
Hope you enjoy
Alex
