Custom Wild Animal Posters

In addition to the map project, I've also decided to start a series of educational posters using the same animal drawings. Like the map, this will also be an ongoing project I'll continuously add to, but I'll try to post them in waves of six. To start the series, we've got Zoboomafoo himself, plus five other species I thought would make good starter animals.

And here we have the second wave of animal posters, including some notable African megafauna and the first reptile of the series. For the next 30 animals, I'm planning to make posters for all of the species in the base game roster of Zoo Tycoon 2 (with the exception of the Nile crocodile and gembok, which have both been swapped out with non-African species).

And here we have the third wave of animal posters. Not only do we have the first ocean animal of the series (the emperor penguin) but we now have at least one animal from every continent!

And here we have wave four of animal posters. Sorry I've been so slow on them lately. The third quarter of my senior year just started and I'm trying to figure my new schedule out. I'm hoping to produce these posters on a more regular basis if I can.

An excellent selection of mammals, but lacking in the herp department. Despite this, the art is fresh while not being overly simple, and it looks sleek.
Finally, the text is conscise without being too simple.

Thanks for the feedback! And don't worry about the herp department, I guarantee that you'll be seeing plenty of reptile posters in the upcoming waves (for the first few posters I decided to theme them around the base game roster of Zoo Tycoon 2, which had a pretty solid mammal selection but unfortunately only one reptile). After the next two waves the game's base roster will be fully covered, so then I'll be able to incorporate more non-mammal fauna, including reptiles as well as amphibians, fish, and the invertebrate classes.

I won't spoil too much about my plans for future waves, but you can expect to see chameleons, cobras, and giant tortoises in the near future.

And here we have five wave of animal posters. Mostly Asian animals this time, with the exception of the common ostrich.

Here we have wave six of animal posters, and with it, the "base game roster" of Zoo Tycoon 2 animals is complete (except for the gemsbok, which is being saved for a later wave). For the next four waves, I plan to make posters for some of the notable animals from the Endangered Species and African Adventure expansion packs, with some additional birds and herps thrown in for good measure.

As a fellow Planet Zoo player, one of my goals is to ultimately make posters for most, if not all, of the animals in the game's roster (I'll pretty much be on my own for determining which avian or aquatic animals to add though).

Just for fun, I made a tier list of all the animals I've made posters for so far, as well as many of the species I plan to include in the upcoming waves.

First thing I'd do is look at the different sizes of the media display things and make corresponding templates.

Also, try to highlight different things about the subject animals like ecology and other crap like that

And here we have wave seven of animal posters, loosely based on the bonus downloads for Zoo Tycoon 2. According to the wiki, the game also had "animal houses" with an assortment of small reptiles and insects, including the king cobra and some species of chameleon, so those two will be the start of our exhibit animal selection.

These are very good so far, though it does slightly bother me that in some of these (like Asian Elephant and Kangaroo), the full-body images and portraits have different colors and patterns. Keeping them consistent would reinforce the idea that they're supposed to be the same individuals.

And here we have wave eight of animal posters, based on Zoo Tycoon 2's Endangered Species expansion, with the California sea lion being the sole representative of Marine Mania (I plan to cover many of the other sea creatures as well, but I'm saving them for a later wave).

Here we have wave nine of animal posters, based on Zoo Tycoon 2's African Adventure expansion, along with two other herps that definitely aren't African, but I wanted to include anyways.

And here we have wave 11 of animal posters! Going forward, I decided to make each wave consist of ten posters rather than six, and for at least the next few waves I'd like them to have some kind of theme. So to start off the "themed" waves, I thought it would be fun to do a wave for barnyard animals (even though most of them do not occur naturally in the wild).

I'd also like to announce that for the next eight waves, I'll be theming each one off of a different continent of the world, with an additional wave being dedicated towards sea creatures (finally!). I've already figured out all the animals I want to include in these next eight waves, which will include 41 mammals, 12 birds, 11 reptiles & amphibians, 9 fish, and 7 invertebrates. For those of you familiar with the Really Wild Animals show, I'll be presenting the continent waves in the same order as the season one episodes.

And after I'm done exploring the continents, I've got something extra special planned for wave 20! I won't spoil what it is, but I'll give you a hint, it won't have any mammals. Anyways, stay tuned for the future expansions!
