Has anyone ever been to Dade City Wild Things in Dade City, FL? It is only about 20 miles from where I live and seems interesting, but if it is a bad place I wouldn't want to go. A search of this website turned up some rather poor information on them, but not that much.

Just because a company/business/zoo/enterprise is "non-profit" does not mean that they do not make money and do not pay their staff, board, or "owners" a large amount of money. It really just means that at the end of the year they need to show an accounting loss or $0 profit. They can use the organization cash to lease expensive cars, airplanes, houses, or pretty much anything that can be tied to the business legally. Even dining can be paid for out of the business if they can prove it had some sort of tie in to the business operations.

A business across the parking lot from my office is "non-profit" and they lease all of their staff luxury cars (Mercedes, Maserati, and a Range Rover), not including the high salaries and "consulting fees" they are paid out of the business.

Yeah, I guess I get it. But its all just crazy for me to think about "non-profits" having that kind of money. My girlfriend has worked for many "non-profits" and at least the two that she's worked at while I have been dating her are struggling to make ends meet. Their only major expenses seem to be events in order to hopefully raise more money.
