Media reports are claiming that an Atlantic puffin, hatched and hand reared at the zoo is the first of its species to be raised in a European zoo.
(Can this be right?)

The pair of Ussuri brown bears "Mischa" and "Mascha", donated to the zoo by Russian President Dmitri Medvedev, have moved into the first part of their new exhibit.
 
According to someone on the German forums, the only succesfull breeder in Europe was untill recently a breeder (birdfarm Hof Bremehr) in Germany...

So it seems to be correct?
 
Some remarkeble bird-hatchlings sofar this year :
Plush-crested jay : some during May and July
Puffin : some during July and August !

Can you be more specific on the number of puffins?
It seems their new exhibit is working for this difficult species?
 
No I can´t :(. I've the information from their website and here no numbers are mentioned but seen the fact that they hatched during 2 different monthts, they at least should have 2 chicks !
 
2014 the Dählhölzli Bern started to keep Tropical girdled lizards and now the first 4 young ave been born :).
 
At the end of August 11-year old Harbour seal female Yuma gave birth to a female pup. 2 days later another female also gave birth to a second pup :).
 
Does Tierpark Dählhölzli still have a masterplan btw? I know there where talks of a lemur house and barbary macaque....but i think they announce stuff and then a few weeks the project is off the table again
