Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge DAK Lodge News

According to some bystanders, one of the Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra foals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge had unfortunately passed away after it was reported to be chased by an ostrich into a fence, which the foal badly collided with up to the point where it didn't survive the impact. Although there has not been any confirmation about which foal was the victim of this incident, some have speculated that it could have been “Zarina” who was born last October, and was named in honor of the resort’s 50th anniversary.

I've heard that it was Dash, born in May of last year. Disney rarely comments publicly so I'm not sure we'll get official confirmation anytime soon

Through their Instagram account, they have announced that “Lavender”, one of their female addax, had recently gave birth to her second calf; which was born this past Sunday, and is currently unsexed as of right now.

1.0 okapi “Beni” was born in July to first time mom, “Olivia” and presumably sire, “Elombe”. This is the twelfth okapi calf born at DAK and the first since 2018!

Does the lodge still have Sitatunga? If so which Savanna are they in?
No they do not. I was there last weekend. They have Lesser Kudu & Nyala but they are currently behind the scenes. A cast member told me that a Bobcat has been sighted around Pembe savanna and the Lesser Kudu, Nyala & Red River Hogs are behind the scenes until it is trapped and relocated.

Just to answer my own question, I did in fact find 2 Sitatungas hiding in the shrubs in a smaller habitat containing Vultures and Guineafowl in a smaller habitat between the Arusha and Uzima Savannas.
That sounds like the same smaller enclosure that I saw one in last June 2022. I observed it from the exterior stairwell at the end of the lodge.

Currently working with my 4K 60fps footage from the lodge (both Jambo & Kidani locations) in Premiere and the raw clips that I filmed during the daytime measures out at nearly 1 hour and 40 minutes long!!! Also, I filmed at night so expect to see another vid of the animals such as giraffes, zebras, cranes, and a large portion of their African art collection as well!
