Damian Aspinall: You all know my views on zoos prove me wrong

I would also like to add having read some of the hateful comments on this site about me and my family that this is a conversation that is kept civilised and with only the interests of the welfare of animals as its core objective.

Is this a joke? Given Mr Aspinall’s frequently-expressed views on zoos, on those who run them, and those who appreciate them, it would be somewhat rich for him to use the phrase “hateful comments”.

Alright, ‘Damian’, if indeed it’s you. I’ll go first.

if you don’t like zoos, why don’t you simply shut the ones you run down?
Because you can't simply shut down a zoo obviously what would you do with all the animals ?
What we have been doing is starting to phase of species and stop breeding certain species and generally close over time. I have also said that i do believe there is a need for rescue of certain animals from terrible conditions. For example i am doing such with some lions and bears at the moment however that is not conservation just a welfare issue

Ok, so let me take this as if you truly were the real Aspinall, then why the sudden appearance of you on this forum and why the interest in having a civil talk with the members of this forum.
Because this is a serious topic and the only way I can effect change is to throw myself into the lions den and try to reason with hardened zoo people

on what evidence do you suggest such a thing ? A.. we throw them out into the wild which implies that there is no intelligent and cautious process to what we do and B ..they all die is simply not true
We actually do a huge amount of work sometimes taking years before we attempt to rewild nothing is just thrown out into the wild

Yeah, we all know the real Damian Aspinall's views on zoos, but I suspect he'd feel the same way about someone impersonating him just to get a raise - the aggressive start, the lack of appropriate capitals and the listing of "London" as location when everyone knows the Aspinall zoos are in Kent is all too much of a giveaway.
