David Attenborough is coming!

It's already sold out. I wish I had found out earlier. This would be hands down the coolest thing ever.

I'm sure the scalpers will be selling them soon on whatever local internet-auction sites you have over there....

They already cost $194 a piece to begin with. I'd hate to think what second hand tickets will end up costing. I got floor tickets for Radiohead for less.

It's almost my birthday...I'll see how generous Mum and Dad are feeling.

One Direction, Radiohead????? Never heard of them!

If they command such huge prices, imagine what we could charge for "An Evening with Chlidonias"???

people paying for a chance to be mocked, ridiculed and corrected on minutiae? I give that out for free!! :D

Apparently the Attenborough ticjkets were all gone in less than a day in Sydney. They ranged from $95 to $245.

:p

Wow! When I went to see Mr. Attenborough a few years ago, it only cost us £20 (and just to tease you all a bit more, we ended up sitting at the table next to his at the restaurant before his talk).

the price difference may be due to the factor of distance (i.e. cost of getting him over here)

Yes, that is probably the major factor, although I guess the actual content itself could play a part too- I gather that this one is a sort of personal memoir, while the one I went to was a "celebrity lecture" by BirdLife International about Alfred Russell Wallace, birds-of-paradise and his championing of the Araripe manakin.

One thing I am pretty sure of, is that it will be brilliant, regardless of what he is talking about. :)

something called One Direction came to NZ just recently and the $93.50 tickets sold out in the blink of an eye. On-sold on Trademe they reached prices of over $2000 each!

Oh god. ive been working with alot of year eight students lately and one direction is all i hear about, "sir, are you going to one direction", "sir, i am soooo excited about one direction", "sir how can you not love one direction" - my reply "my names not sir". That distracts them from one direction for about 45 seconds. imagine the impact group like that could have if they plugged the odd consevation message.

I could see that working. 'That's what makes Sumatran rhinos beautiful.'

p.s. please ignore the fact that I know the words.

I've been to see Attenborough talk on a few ocassions (and never had to pay), he's certainly a raconteur. And it's not just wildlife and conservation - he's interested in different peoples and cultures, and he has an impressive collection of tribal art (from what I've heard).

Those with tickets will certainly enjoy themselves.

What a difference a couple of generations can make!!!

I get Work Experience students who start off by calling me Mr Robinson. When I suggest [tongue in cheek] that they should adopt a less formal approach and just genuflect slightly whilst calling me "Sir", they stare back blankly.

By the end of the week most of them are just calling me "mate"!

he lurks outside the window -- note he said he has been to see Attenborough talk, not hear :p

It's not what you know, Nanoboy.......

Actually, that's a stupid statement, because I only know the people I know because of what I know. You know?

:p
