On August 1st, the zoo announced they acquired (0.5) common emus named Freyja, Hela, Huginn, Muninn, and Sif respectively from a private owner, which are now on exhibit next to the American bison. The zoo plans to move the emus closer to the laughing kookaburra/bald eagle exhibits in the future.
On September 2nd, the zoo announced they acquired a male (1.0) Highland cow named Axl from Rolling Hills Zoo in Kansas which is now on display near the emus, and will be moved to a larger exhibit in the upcoming weeks. The zoo also announced they will be acquiring another cow in the future.
