I'm thinking about a zoo all about scottish wildlife.it would have an urban area,pets,visitor centre,wild wildlife area,aquarium,hoofstock,predators,aviaries and maybe a exhibit for animals that lived in scotland years ago (wolves,beavers,wild boars etc.)Any ideas about exhibits

This sounds interesting. I don't know much about Scottish wildlife so it'll be great to read what you have. I'm especially interested in what you're going to do for the aquarium.

I don't know if anyone has done this yet and I don't have room for it in my zoo so I decided to get the idea out there for anyone that wants to do it. The idea is an exhibit for animals living in urban areas but, instead of the exhibit being outside, the whole (mabye most and not whole) exhibit is inside of a house. You walk through a fake house with lots of different exhibits in it. Some ideas I have are you go into the attic and see exhibits for Domestic Cats, Northern Raccoons, mabye Striped Skunks, Barn Owls, and Little (or Big) Brown Bats. Also, you go into the bathroom and the toilet in is all dirty and there's a fake empty toilet paper role somewhere in there and it's in a tank with a few species of small, native fish (the bigger the tank, the bigger the fish) or you could have the toilet exhibit be home to a snake species of two and a compatable frog/toad. Next, you go into the basement and there're exhibits for Brown Rats, American Cockroach, and who knows what else (it's up to you). Finally, you step outside onto the porch and you are overlooking an American Black Bear or White-Tailed Deer/Eastern Turkey exhibit.

This exhibit is up for grabs so if anyone wants it I can't wait to see what you come up with and if you use my ideas or not.

I forgot to add that, in the bathtub, there's a Common Snapping Turtle and mabye some compatable fish or another animal. Mabye Grey Treefrogs for the above water portion if you gave them things to sit on and such (although the turtle might try and eat them...). The water in the tub is running and the tub is almost full but a draining system drains water just as fast as the water enters and you don't have to worry about the drains getting clogged and the exhibit filling up becuase the drain moves through filters and then goes back up into the exhibit again so the exhibit really is just circleing the water around so it conserves water.

Also, you can have American Alligator and Tiger Salamanders in the basement (I've actually found a salamander in my basement before) and don't think you have to stick to a North American theme.

If you really want to go all out with an urban wildlife exhibit I would have coyotes, white-tailed deer, and foxes in the yard of the house. I don't know if people would really want to look at domestic cats though.

If I were doing this then I would have those species as well (all of which I've seen plenty of times around my house). Again, I do not plan on building this exhibit for my zoo, I just thought it sounded cool and put it out there for someone else to do.

on each side there will be 7 exhibits (made to look like shops)each containing a british species of mice or rat .

I don't know how all of those bird will do together and I think you should have other species. Mabye a Domestic Cat and/or Dog breed native to Britain along with other animals. Do you plan on a Farmyard area?

About the cat/dog issue. I have been planning a second urban area where one of the seven areas will be a rescue centre for injured or abandoned cats and dogs.also yes I will have a farm area with a mix of farmyard animals and scottish deer species

what would the problem be with the birds? also your idea about the cat/dog has given me an other idea.when the cats/dogs are nearly ready for adoption they could go into the original urban area to try and speed up their recovery

That's a great idea. I was just saying I don't know if the gulls (they're native to New Zealand, why have them in a Scottish species zoo) and other birds would get along. It all depends on what species are compatable.

My zoo would focus on habitats not commonly shown in zoos. My first exhibit would focus on animals from Siberia. The first exhibit would be home to a herd of Siberian ibexes. Their exhibit would include a small hill for them to climb on. Next would be a large aviary for Siberian cranes. Amur tigers would live in the next exhibit. There would be large glass viewing windows for guests to get close to the tigers. After the tigers, there would be an aviary for eurasian black vultures. Amur leopards would be found in an exhibit nearby. There would be a small conservation centre next to the leopard exhibit. The centre would include information about endangered species like tigers, leopards, and cranes. Then there would be a forest area home to many species that could also be found in North America. All of the exhibits would basically be large, fenced in sections of forest. The exhibits would be for wolves, lynxes, wolverines, wild boars, and moose. At the end of the path would be a brown bear exhibit with giant underwater viewing windows. This is my first exhibit so hopefully my exhibit designing skills wil get better over time.

Caribbean

My second exhibit area would focus on wildlife from the Caribbean. The area would start off with an outdoor exhibit for black howler monkeys. Their exhibit would be an island with lots of climbing opportunities. Next you enter the main building . The first thing you see is a long glass viewing window into a manatee exhibit. There would be lots of signs about manatee conservation around the exhibit. After the manatee exhibit, there would be a reptile wing with large exhibits for species like iguanas and crested toads. The largest exhibit would feature Cuban crocodiles. The main rainforest area is next. It would include an indoor exhibit for the howler monkeys mentioned earlier, an aviary for amazon parrots, and an overhead view of the manatees. Then there is the bat cave. This nocturnal section features a colony of jamaican fruit bats. In the final section of the building, there would be a large reef aquarium. It would include species such as sharks, stingrays, and sea turtles, along with lots of smaller fish. Side exhibits would feature seahorses and lionfish. The lionfish exhibit would have signs next to it talking about invasive species. After exiting the building there would be an aviary home to a flock of Caribbean flamingoes and other waterfowl. Sorry I couldn't say the exact species of reptiles, fish, and waterfowl. I'm not good at memorizing the names of small species. If anyone has any comments on my exhibits, please post them. I'm curious to see what other people think of my exhibits.
