First Idea of 2015! This time it's an NFL-themed zoo.

First, the AFC species.

AFC EAST: The Buffalo Bills will be represented by the American Bison, while Miami would be represented by the Bottlenose Dolphin. The New York Jets will have the Cheetah as their exhibit. And my home team, the New England Patriots, will have the American Lobster.

AFC NORTH: Baltimore will have the Common Raven, Cincinnati will have Bengal Tigers. Cleveland will be represented by the Brown Hyena. The Pittsburgh Steelers will be represented by Black-and-Yellow Spotted Tree Frog.

AFC SOUTH: The Houston Texans will be represened by the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. The Indianapolis Colts will be represented by the Grant's Zebra. Jacksonville will get Jaguars. The Tennessee Titans will be represented by the African Elephant.

AFC WEST: Denver Broncos will be represented by the Przewalski's Wild Horse. The Kansas City Chiefs will be represented by the Gray Wolf. The Oakland Raiders will be represented by the California Condor. The San Diego Chargers will be represented by the Southern White Rhinoceros.

My zoo would be Scranton's Own Wild Safari Park.
In Our State-
Visitors would first drive through the "In our State" preserve, with dense forests of maple and oak as well as ponds, marshes, logs, and enrichment on 25 acres for white-tailed deer, elk, ruffed grouse, and black bear (in a separate 5-acre forested pen). All the animals would have plenty of roam to roam. An otter pond would also be visible from the road in this part.
Savannas of East Africa-
Free-roaming olive baboons would live in this 150-acre preserve, with palms, acacias, thorns and other African plants. Gerenuk, Kori bustard, ostrich, crowned crane and watusi would live in the first area. Visitors would then see gemsbok, guineafowl, pygmy goats and Cameroon sheep, white rhinos, puku, blesbok, bontebok and more as they continued through the preserve on the road. The Masai giraffe and Grant's zebra would be near the black rhinos and African elephants, on 15 acres each with enrichment, mud, grass, trees, sand, and varying terrain. The exhibit would go past bushpigs, hippos (in 5 acres with a pool and a land area), warthogs, and impala.
India-
Only a thin fence would separate the gerenuk, bushpigs, and white rhinos of Africa from axis deer, blackbuck and peafowl of India.
The subcontinent is represented by 60 acres of axis deer, blackbuck, peafowl, chousingha, gaur, barasingha, a small herd of Indian rhinos (the rhinos would mostly be in the middle, near the pool and mud wallows), water buffalo, yak, kulan and Indian wild boar. All the animals would come up to your car as a Hindu temple would be seen in the far background of the field, with forested areas, marshes, rivers and hills, even a 9-acre lake.
Chinese Pass-
Chinese Pass would start with a 25-acre Himalayan pass exhibit with tall mountains with fake snow in the wintertime. Rocks would be everywhere for bharal, Mishmi takin, chiru, and Himalayan tahr. The road would curve through the large field. In the distance would be another 5 acres for snow leopards, with grass, trees, rocks, fake snow (in the wintertime) and enrichment, lots of enrichment. The snowy Himalayas would give way to a ruined temple, with Reeves' muntjac and golden pheasants scurrying around a 7-acre space. Cars would cross a replica of the Yellow River (a muddy creek) past 3 acres for red panda, more Reeves' muntjac and white-naped cranes (a smaller version of the Himalayan Pass and Snow Leopard exhibits). The muntjac in the aviary would be male; but the muntjac with the red pandas and cranes would be females and fawns. Of course, the male and female muntjac would go together during breeding, in a separate breeding enclosure. The breeding enclosure would be 1 acre, and would be passed toward the 2-acre Chinese forest exhibit for red-crowned cranes and tufted deer. There would be 3 more exhibits before the centerpiece- one for Amur and North Chinese leopards (3 acres with grass, trees, lots of rocks and climbing opportunities, enrichment, and a similar exhibit but with a waterfall and a large pool for Amur tigers. The leopard exhibit would have a small waterfall into a small pool. Another 2.5 acres would be a dense bamboo forest with the elusive clouded leopard hiding in trees, hollow logs, or the thick bamboo covering as much as 1.75-2 acres of the exhibit. Up ahead would be a 20-acre masterpiece. A masterpiece, y'all! :) The exhibit would have thick bamboo, enrichment, a large waterfall and pool, a separate 1-acre fenced pond for Mandarin and Pintail ducks as well as for koi, and a 1-acre outdoor glass-fronted exhibit for Chinese giant salamanders at the edge. There would also be grass, hills, and various terrain in the 20-acre exhibit, for Giant Pandas! :) In Scranton? It's fantasy after all, y'all! :) The bears would not be able to come up to your car, but visitors would be able to see them close from the road. Another bend, another twist and it would be the last area...
Football Safari!
The first exhibit would be 4 acres. The bison off-exhibit barn (in the back) would be painted in red, white and blues for the NFL's Buffalo Bills! You guessed it, a herd of bison would live here! The bison could come up to your car! Bighorn sheep and mouflon would have 3 acres in a rocky crag exhibit. Both could leave the crag and come up to your car, with some of the rocks being painted blue and gold- St. Louis Rams colors! The next exhibit would be 3 acres. Texas longhorns for the Houston Texans would amble up to your car. Their horns would be painted red and blue with a white star with nontoxic paint. Ankole cattle would also be here, with the same painted horns. Ponies and miniature horses would have 2.5 acres for the Denver Broncos. The fence (the fence that lifts up when the park is closed or it is nighttime), would be orange, blue and white. If they had babies (male or female), they would go in a 2-acre pen for the Indianapolis Colts, along with the colts' mother. The lift-up fence would be blue and white. One more ungulate would be next. Visitors would park their cars at a parking lot for the Walk-Thru.
The Walk-Thru would have various exhibits for animals such as kangaroos, wallabies, nyala, ostriches, a lorikeet feed aviary (feed for $1/cup of nectar or 2/$1.50), cottontail rabbits, and a petting zoo with goats, sheep, ponies and llamas. Pony and camel rides would also be available, as well as a gift shop and restaurant, but the stars would be in a giant building painted in green, orange, white and navy blue- the Dolphin Dome! A 100,000 sq ft pool would be for the (Miami) dolphins- named Sunny, Shula, Don, Dan and Marino. The dolphins would live in a natural habitat with lots of enrichment, fish feeders, and an 85,000 sq ft pool outside for the dolphins.

While I take a break/hiatus from Wild Planet Mega Zoo, Im going to make a zoo on this thread, so can people help me with exhibit Ideas? Here are some of the Ideas I Have.



Australian Mangroves

Various Islands from around the world (Galapagos, Hawaiian Islands, Ryuku Islands, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Aluetian Islands, Ect.)



Walk Through Aviary for "Common Backyard" Birds of North America

Instead of an enclosed aviary why not set up a path with birdhouses and bird feeders to attract wild birds? That could be an interesting trail.

Rodents of the World

Tons you could do here. Maybe separate it geographically. You could also have a great nocturnal exhibit. Too many species to mention.

Middle East

A desert exhibit here could be good. You could keep Arabian oryx, Persian Onagers, and mouflons here. You could also do a Mesopotamian Marsh exhibit.

Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains

I'm not too familiar with wildlife in this part of the world but Mexican wolves could be a good addition and perhaps grizzly bears as stand ins for the extinct Mexican grizzly.

South Africa
Plenty of African species could go here. You could also have African penguins and if you wanted fallow deer as an introduced species.

Gobi Desert

Bactrian camels and Mongolian wild horses would be a great addition here. You could also have dholes, snow leopards (not technically Gobi Desert dwellers but in the mountains surrounding), and Pallas cats.

Mediterranean
Other than fallow deer I'm not too familiar with wildlife from this part of the world.
 
California Safari Park and Zoo
This zoo is located in Southern California, inland from Los Angeles. It features a drive through safari park and small walk-through zoo. The safari park can be a self-driven tour in the visitor’s own vehicle or with open air buses provided by the zoo. This zoo is arranged geographically and contains species from all seven continents (although Antarctica and Europe will be excluded from the drive-through).
The safari park will be described first, in sections.

North America
The first part of the drive-through is dedicated to wildlife from North America. In this section, bison, elk, pronghorn, and white-tailed deer roam freely. These animals are able to approach the vehicle. In a separated area visible from the road, the visitor can spot coyotes. In another separate area, the visitor can stop and spot a colony of prairie dogs that are cleverly contained by a system of moats. This exhibit contains numerous ponds, specifically designed to attract native waterfowl. This exhibit features very few trees except for a creek alongside sections of the road. Interpretive signs are placed on simulated hillsides and rocks and these explain the threats to the ecosystem. Salt licks are hidden near the signs to attract the ungulates.

South America
After North America, the visitor enters the South America area. Due to the small size of the inhabitants, the only animals that are able to approach the vehicle are the greater rheas and guanacos. On the left hand side of this habitat the visitor may spot giant anteaters, maned wolves, and collared peccaries (in separate enclosures). This habitat is designed to resemble the lush Pantanal. On the right hand side is an exhibit containing Chacoan peccaries and southern tamanduas (in separate enclosures). The Chaco exhibit is designed to resemble that part of the world and so is much dryer than the Pantanal side. As seen in the previous exhibit, signs are present on rockwork and simulated shrubbery and these explain the threats to the region.

I already posted the beginning part of my own idea, no need for me to copy anyone. ;) The comments in red were my suggestion.
 
My next zoo is divided into 4 rather unusual sections-
Timber!- Animals of the northern United States, think timber wolves, great horned owls, black bears, etc.
Manchurian Pass- Animals of northeast Asia, like Bactrian camels, red-crowned cranes, tufted deer, Amur leopards and tigers, etc.
Australian Swamps- Estuarine crocodiles, barramundi, stone-curlew, and more Australian mangrove animals.
Tembo Bush (probably the most "typical" exhibit of this zoo)- hippos, giraffes, rhinos, elephants, lion, zebra, suni, tsessebe, Cape clawless otter, Cape hunting dog, jackal, bats (South African species basically)

Timber! would start with a row of netted aviaries with a small pool, enrichment, branches, logs, trees, etc. for great horned owl, bald eagle and boreal owl. The trail would continue past a glass-fronted Wetlands, with beavers, river otters, and various fish such as walleye and muskie. It would be 2 acres with a .5-acre land area to be shared by beaver and otter. Visitors would then see a 2-acre circular glass exhibit with enrichment, viewing cave, and more for a pack of timber wolves- four females and three males. The females would be named Akai, Nessa, Tukta and Amora. The males would be named Gabriel, Oqtangik and Jonas (what book are the names from :)). The exhibit would include a small river, which would flow down into a similar 2-acre exhibit for black bears, but that exhibit would have a large cubbing den and only 3.3. Porcupines, flying squirrels and other small mammals would live in a row of small (.25 to .75) acre forest exhibit around a bend. The river would join a small marsh and the combined waterway would flow into the 2-acre habitat for brown bears. A forest clearing would have a gift shop, restaurant, restrooms and ATM. The next exhibit should be on here later!

Sounds like a nice set of exhibits but I'm not sure if beavers and otters would mix well. Despite their playfulness otters can be pretty aggressive.

OK. Manchurian Pass would start with the acre Pine Forest, with tufted deer, red-crowned cranes and various waterfowl (smew, Mandarin duck, pintail, etc.) in a rocky pond and a land area for all species. Pines, tree stumps and enrichment would be common in this exhibit, under an arch inscribed in Mongolian, Chinese, Russian, Japanese and English. The next exhibit would be a 2-acre outdoor exhibit with trees, grass, a waterfall, a pool, mud, moat, enrichment, and more for Manchurian brown bears, Russian brown bears and other bears (rescued circus bears). The exhibit would have a glass, Chinese-motif viewing cave. The last part before the cats would be an aviary for Dalmatian pelicans, crossbills and other Russian birds (2 acres and on a swinging suspension bridge, separated from visitors through netting, with below being the home for wild boar in the aviary, leading to a stone building with indoor Amur leopard and tiger exhibit. The animals would rotate between 2 3-acre yards (with rescued leopards and tigers of other subspecies as well), with grass, trees, mud, sunny and shady areas, rocks, hills, "mountains", pools, waterfalls, etc. A Russian-Manchurian restaurant (Manchu Hills Cafe) and a gift shop would complete this area.

ITS THE FIRST EXHIBIT
But, first I will you about my 532 acres zoo called Dunfermline Zoo in Fife, Central-Eastern Scotland. It will have toilets and breast-feeding station spread over the zoo so visitors can enjoy their visit. There would be a skyfari from Heart Of Africa (HOA) to Panda Passage "mind the alterations." It would have so many tropical species and temperate ones. The second exhibit will be Reptile Mania where visitors can see many reptiles species along with frogs, toads and fishes. Even the green anaconda will share their exhibit with Marine Toad.
 
My first exhibit, Through Africa, would start with a scene of an abandoned village- thatched huts everywhere lying on their sides, piles of old wood and metal, and an exhibit for chickens, pygmy goats and guineafowl with thin fencing. Old junk cars would be placed in the chicken/goat/guineafowl enclosure. The abandoned village would be seen along a path, with ramshackle old huts, signs, and even an old ranger's station, with "Tembo National Park" written on the side of a hut (the old ranger's station). Along the dusty path there, visitors would see a wide, sweeping grassland, with blesbok, gemsbok, Grant's zebra, ostrich and giraffe viewable in the distance. After the grassland, visitors would climb a hill and pass crested porcupines, dik-dik, and a camping tent with a troop of energetic vervet monkeys, as well as olive baboons and Debrazza's monkeys. A sulcata tortoise pen would give way to Elephant Mountain, where visitors could ride African elephants down the mountain! First, visitors would see the 20-acre plain for elephants, with a horseshoe-shaped lake, mud, grass, sand, trees, enrichment, divided into 2 separate plains- one for bulls, one for cows and calves. However, the bulls and cows/calves would be allowed to breed in the breeding yard, a 2-acre space (each yard would be 9 acres, and the breeding yard 2) Also at Elephant Mountain on the way to an elephant ride, visitors would go on a rope bridge only 5 feet above Nile crocodiles. Hippos and cape buffalo would share a 5-acre African lake exhibit, with mud, marsh grass/reeds, trees, and more naturalistic features. Flamingos, herons, pelicans, reedbuck, waterbuck and sitatunga would share a 5-acre muddy end of the African lake, over the rope bridge. The elephant ride tent would be an African thatched-style tent by the lake. No elephants harmed in the making- the elephants would be robotic! The robophants would take visitors for $2 down the mountain and down to the rest of the dusty path, passing a lion exhibit and a cave with small terrariums for snakes, millipedes, spiders and more small invertebrates. The cave would look into a royal antelope/zebra/impala/springbok (3-acre) plain. The kopje would have meerkats, klipspringer and rock hyrax on 1 acre. After the kopje, the path would twist and turn past secretary birds and bateleur eagles, and past a gift shop, cafe, restrooms and ATM, and into the exit.

I am also creating zoo, (my first and probably not as good as the others), but has been in the making for over a year, and I have nearly finished. I have used the San Diego Zoo as inspiration, as it is my favorite zoo, so, so there will be a few similarities with exhibit wise, and with rare species.

I structured this zoo into five exhibit areas: Exploration Kingdom, African Expanse, Pole to Pole, Australian Bush, and Exotic Jungle. Each exhibit area has smaller exhibit sections within (except for Australian Bush, which I couldn't figure out how to split up).
Ex: Within Pole to Pole is Wintry Bird Aviary, The Arctic, North America, and Wild Central Asia.
