Simba the African Lion will be moving to the Great Plains Zoo after living in Detroit for more than a decade.

That's a Panamanian Golden Frog, not a poison dart frog.I must admit that I'm a bit nostalgic for the purple-ish 1998 design, but at least the new tower is very colourful. The 11 animals highlighted are a giraffe, tiger, penguin, flamingo, scarlet ibis, some kind of small yellow bird, emerald tree boa, poison dart frog and 3 butterflies. There's also a tail from a peacock.

I have heard rumors that the zoo is trying to acquire a komodo dragon for the space but I don't have a good source for that, nor do I know where they are in that process.Aww man, Solair passed away? I wonder what will move into that space.
Has anyone heard more about the stingrays, llamas, or an expansion of the Asia section? I thought someone had heard rumors of these things. Also, any idea when the cassowaries go back on exhibit? They're exhibit looked great when I was there a few days ago although my phone camera doesn't work for pictures. Volunteers just said soon.
African Spurred TortoiseWhat species is tubby if you don’t mind me asking? Apologies if this has already been covered and I’ve missed it.
Nothing on an Asian expansion, with dinosaurs coming back it might be used as event space. I visited recently and heard nothing of the stingrays and llamas but I did hear of bush dogs and anteaters being the main focus of this project, they put up signs saying discovery trails which included prairie dogs. She also mentioned aardvarks might be there.Has anyone heard more about the stingrays, llamas, or an expansion of the Asia section? I thought someone had heard rumors of these things. Thanks!African Spurred Tortoise
It was many years ago in the reptile house along with galagos and pangolins. It is confirmed in the 75 year anniversary book.Does anyone know when Detroit Zoo might have held Tasmanian Devils? They have been entered as a former holder in ZTL with no sources and I haven't been able to corroborate this from anything online besides a single media comment from 10+ years ago.
Even if it does end up just being for Tubby, it’s still cool to see them construct* a new outdoor habitat for a large(ish) animal, I believe this and the new cassowary exhibit in the Australian Walkabout are the first new ones since the wolf exhibit. Even cooler that it’s being built on what was previously not being used as exhibit space. This is a new exhibit being constructed behind the eland and ostrich yard that's available from the Arctic ring of life. It looks like it's for tortoises. Hopefully giant tortoises, like Aldabra tortoises and not just Tubby.
