I made a quick visit yesterday day and there were many changes.
• Two red panda cubs were born on the 17th
• South American Horned frogs and axolotls are in the kids cave
• The new habitat being built by the picnic of polar bears is now for miniature donkeys
• Chinese crocodiles are in the former water monitor habitat, dwarf caimans are in the former Chinese alligator and the arrau turtles are in the caiman habitat
• Tubby (spurred tortoise) and the pelicans are in the old hippo pool taking up 3/4 of the aardvark habitat with the aardvarks rotating with the giant anteaters.
• Cassowary habitat is 2 yards with plans to include a male.
• Kid zone to include from updated list from today, prairie dogs, bush dogs, giant anteaters, old barn animals. Possibly to include tree kangaroo, camels, rhea, sandhill crane, SA monkey (probably squirrel), and aardvarks. Many other species that the volunteer forgot was included or may be, she said the plans keep changing.
If they got a New World monkey that would honestly be huge, don’t think they’ve had any in my lifetime.

I found a master plan from last year. It doesn't have much news to say, but it estimates that KidZone/Discovery Trails will open in Spring of next year and further confirms stingrays if there were any doubts. After that will be infrastructure updates, mostly of the zoo's piping system but also for exhibit improvements and a new entrance.

After kid zone we will probably get a renovation of reptiles, Africa or the camel habitat.

The article included mentioned renovations for existing areas at the zoo, a worker once told me there was mention of an Asia expansion. Africa and the reptile house both seem a little aged compared to the rest of the zoo.
The Reptile House I agree with, Africa on the other hand… the giraffe and lion exhibits already received renovations over the past 15 years, and pretty much all the existing habitats already meet the needs of their inhabitants pretty well. That said, I wouldn’t mind if they did a renovation of the area, especially if it involved bringing in a new large carnivoran (whether it’s cheetah, spotted hyena, or African wild dog) as I feel like the zoo could definitely use another one of those.

I feel the zoo could add the zebra, warthogs and wildebeests to the eland habitat and add new habitats over there.

I would hope they consider a new Japanese Macaque exhibit. While the current exhibit is good, its location is out of place and would be a better thematic fit for Hamadryas baboons. Moving the macaques would be a great step to improve the zoo's geographic layout.

My thoughts exactly!

Would that exhibit be too small for hamadryas? If so I could see another species of baboons.
