This individual came from Lincoln Park Zoo as he was the last of the group there. Not sure if they (Detroit) will plan on acquiring more.

Is Lincoln Park going out of crowned lemurs? Did a previous individual pass away? I saw two last winter.

When I last visited there was no signage for them and I only saw one.

Yes, the other members passed away, leaving only one, who is the one at Detroit. I was only told there will be no crowned lemurs at Lincoln Park “for the time being”.

Since we got a new director we technically have gained 2 lemur species, new gorilla group after gone for 2 months and swamp monkeys.

The zoo has shared that they have recently gained multiple new animals including, a male crowned lemur “Lenny”, a male cassowary “Crimini”, a small mob of kangaroos,(I believe 3) and Kit the sea otter.

A baby gorilla was born at the zoo on August 8th to Gorillas, Bandia and Mshindi. This is the first ever birth in the zoo’s 96 year history! A baby gorilla has been born at the Detroit Zoo for the first time in its 96-year history to 26-year-old Bandia, a first-time mother, and 36-year-old Mshindi.

The deal was to send the 3 bachelor males Chipua, Pendeka and Kongo-Mbeli over to Cincinnati in return.

Only a year ago they just got the new troop and are already successful, it reminds me a lot of Cleveland’s situation.

The baby gorilla now is viewable to the public and has access to both indoors and outside.

Looks like the bears have a new den structure, hopefully they'll be more viewable if they prefer sleeping there. I think the den is new, I don't recall it before.
