Hi all, whilst in Torquay I picked up a leaflet for this place and just wanted to know if anyone had visited and if so, what was it like?
I've never heard of the place before this week and would like to know how it stacks up compared to other collections in the area? I know it's primary function is for the rescue and rehabilitation of local species but they also keep red squirrels and wildcats, do they have any other permanent residents?
Also did anybody take the behind the scenes hospital tour?
If anyone knows anything then thanks in advance! :D

The Hedgehog Hospital rings a distant bell, I may have visited in the distant past?
What's the place like now Johnny? What did they have when you visited?

Hi Brum,

I visited this collection earlier in the year, Easter time I think, and we had a great visit. We got there for the first talk and then followed the same member of staff around for the day, listening to her give each talk.

Brum has summed up the animal collection well, but there may also be other surprises on a visit due to the rescue centre nature of the centre.

We did the behind the scenes hospital tour, which I think was only £1.50 extra each, and it was well worth it. We got to see a badger cub, not many weeks old, and many other extra animals.

Obviously you could spend a short time there if you quickly walked round all the enclosures but if you take the time to stop and watch and take interest in the animals and take in all the talks / behind the scenes tour, then this greatly adds to the day. I'm sure we were there for about 3 to 4 hours in total.

It sounds great, I'm interested to know if mink are commonly brought in as I'd love to see a mink as I don't recall ever seeing one.
Thanks for the overview, next time I'm in Devon I will definitely be paying a visit! :D
