Dholes in the UK?

Dear Zoochatters,
Hello! I'm looking for zoos in the UK that have Dholes in their collection, a search on the forums shows there are some in Howletts, Galloway and Twycross. Are there any other collection with Dholes?

Thanks!

Port Lympne also has them (I think just a pair).

I love dhole but have only seen them at Twycross.

Galloway, as far as I am aware, has just one elderly animal. Someone on here (can't remember who) told me that when I asked about their photo.

Would love to see them somewhere else in the UK- would fit the bill for Highland Wildlife Parks criteria I think.

Are there still dhole at the Black isle wildlife park outside Inverness, i remember Twycross sending a pair up there a few years back.

No these animals left the collection long ago after a very short stay at the park, not sure where they went too.

Hey everyone!
Thanks for the options. Looks like I'll be planning for a trip to one of the aspinall zoos or twycross. If anyone has been to Twycross via public transport (and possibly an overnight stay at a B&B) would love ideas. I have a photographer friend who lives south who would probably be able to take us to howletts.

Thanks again!

The large breeding group of Dhole at Howletts , which have been active when I have seen them , particularly if you catch them being fed , are much more interesting than the small non-breeding group at Twycross in my opinion .

I have never been able to get a decent photo of a dhole at Twycross. It's not exactly easy at Howletts either, but it is possible (in my opinion).

Is the Twycross group non-breeding for a reason? I know they bred at least once, I think this is why a couple of pairs showed up in those 2 Scottish wildlife parks. Did the Twycross animals originate from Howletts? I wonder when the last import happened, its possible Howletts has brought additional animals into the UK over the years.

I'm not really sure what the point is of the two Dholes at Port Lympne, ISIS list them as 0.2. Either this is wrong and they were an attempt at setting up a pack there which failed, or they are possibly two females that were rejected by one or other of the two Howlett's groups. The Port Lympne Dholes are in a rather more exposed enclosure (not to the elements, to the public), with the trucks passing along the road there, and the house quite near the fence.

Does anyone know how many Dholes had to be shot when some escaped from Howletts last year?

I've found that the best time to see the dholes active at twycross is early in the morning or around 4pm. Though I have to say they are always up and about whenever I see them.
