both Griffon vulture-chicks seen in 2 nests :

- Golden pheasants, chicks not seen - were hidding underneat their mother. Normaly nothing special of course but Amersfoort claims these are the first Golden pheasants ever hatched at Dierenpark Amersfoort ( something I hardly can believe ! )

- Construction :
- Nocturnal House ( one of the most intresting part of the Zoo ) was temporarily closed due to renovation works :(.
- Next to the Nocturnal House and the Dino-woods larger ground-works are in progress, don't know however what is gonna happen there.

- Gone :
- Himalayan newt ( Tylototriton verrucosus )
-Bamboo frog ( still unidentified species for me )

The construction there is for their new Stork flight themed area. In which they will construct a stork aviary and a frogpond, Also some sort of flight/glive/slide ride will be added to near the giraffes.
Vlieg mee in DierenPark Amersfoort

On Friday 27 years old Siamang Ella didn't wake-up after anesthesia because she already had for a longer time some health-problems... RIP Ella.

More exciting arrivals in Amersfoort: a pair of White-Naped Pheasant Pigeons and two beetle species: Dicronorrhina derbyana and Eudicella gralli.

This is very bad news. Too many elephants have been dying lately. This new is very bad for Amersfoort. She could expand the herd in the future. The breeding cows in the zoo are only Indra and Kina. We just have to hope that Thabo won't get sick either. Strangely, however, female calves die predominantly from the EEHV. I hope Indra's unborn calf won't get sick. RIP dear Yunha.:(

Security Check Required
Finally, finding out why elephant cow Indra doesn't have a calf in Amersfoort yet. They found out she wasn't pregnant at all. This is surprising, because half a year ago, all the results showed her pregnancy. It is probable that something went wrong during pregnancy and the calf died. Indra's body probably must have absorbed him. Overall, this case is very strange and nothing is completely clear. But in the end, that's good news, because a dead calf could endanger her life. (Although Sri in Saint Louis has had it in her uterus for 18 years and her health is normal). We'll see if she gets pregnant in the future.
