At Dierenpark Amersfoort a trio of Collared lizards is kept and this year for the first time both females produced eggs. 8 of them have now hatched.

2 intresting births at Amersfoort :
on July 21 a Two-toed Sloth
on July 23 a Yellow-breasted Capucine monkey

Pygmy Loris ( Nycticebus pygmaeus ) to be accurate :) still a nice species of course.

The entire herd of ankole watusi cattle have transferred from Amersfoort to an area near Breda (also in Netherlands) where they will be bred with Chianina cattle as part of an aurochs breeding-back project overseen by the True Nature Foundation.

Information and pictures from the 'True Nature Foundation' Facebook page.

Amersfoort have recently opened an new aviary. It's called Snavelrijk. This species are living here: Griffon Vulture, Marabou Stork, Glossy Ibis, and Dalmatian Pelican. It's the biggest aviary in the Netherlands. Next step is rebuilding the African Savanne. All of it are part of a new bigger theme part called: De Grote Wildernis.

Yes it's a walk-through, I've put some pictures in the DPA gallery ;)

Thanks, it looks great - very big! Are there any plans to add any further species over time? I guess they are a bit limited in species choice with vultures and marabou though.
