Chimp-wise: Oldie Frits is amongst them, dunno about the other 6. Supposedly, they should all be older ones ...:confused:
 
The group of chimps includes males Frits (born approx 1966), Dirk (born 1981) and Pat (born 1999), and females Carolina (born approx 1966), Sonja (born approx 1968), Jana (born 1986) and Christa (born 1988). All are of the verus subspecies.
 
Cheetah-female Sarah is send for a few weeks to Safaripark Beekse Bergen to mate with one ( or several ) male(s) at that collection. As soon as she has mated ( and hopefully will become pregnant ) she will return to Dierenrijk.
 
Female chimpanzee Christa has given birth to a baby at Dierenrijk. The father is Wakili (male at Beekse Bergen). This brings the group to 3.4.1, and means that the baby is a pure PTV like its parents.

You can help choose a name for the baby. It shall be called Jibbe, Jouri or Rafiki if it's a boy, and Fien, Leentje or Kibibi if it's a girl :)
 
A Griffon vulture hatched at Dierenrijk will be send tomorrow to Bulgaria to be released into the wild :) :

Vier januari 2018 wordt een mooie dag, want dan zal onze jongste gier per vliegtuig overgebracht worden naar een uitzettingsproject in Bulgarije!

De gier, geboren op 23 mei 2016 in Dierenrijk, zal ons gaan verlaten om verder te gaan leven in de vrije natuur. Dit is natuurlijk fantastisch nieuws, want op deze manier kunnen wij helpen om de gierenpopulatie in de Balkan te vergroten.

Het uitzetten van de gier gaat via Stichting Green Balkans, die wordt gesteund door onze eigen Stichting Wildlife. Green Balkans verzorgt diverse projecten voor natuurbescherming. Eén hiervan is een programma om de populatie Europese gieren in stand te houden en te vergroten, in het bijzonder in Bulgarije. Dierenrijk heeft al eerder samengewerkt met deze stichting: in 2015 werd namelijk een andere gier, ook geboren in Dierenrijk, ook al uitgezet in Bulgarije. Deze werd in het voorjaar van 2016 gespot in Polen!
