For the first time in 8 years 2 Corsac foxes (Vulpes corsac) were born at Dierenrijk! According to the zoo only 5 Corsac foxes were born in the last 12 months worldwide.

A Pink-backed pelican chick hatched at Dierenrijk - sofar the only Pink-backed hatched this year in the Netherlands.

The egg hatched in June!
In August a male and a female Domestic Reindeer were born.
In November a female Western eurasian griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus fulvus) was send to Bulgaria to be released into the wild.

Really unfortunate as Amneville's enclosure is just horrible !
Some news from the Dutch zoo magazine "De Harpij":
- Recently, there have been some shifts among the Polar bears at Dierenrijk. The males Nivi and Henk moved to Diergaarde Blijdorp and Zoo d'Amneville. Soon female Elva will also move, she will go to Nuremberg. Later this year a new breeding male will arrive for Frimas, he comes from the Swedish Orsa. This way the important bloodline of Frimas can be continued.
- Since many young animals were born at the Parma wallabies the last few years, a number of animals moved. 0.2 went to France and 1.3 to Italy.
- From Tierpark Berlin came 1.0 goliath heron.

The two Asian black bears (Ursus thibetanus) of Dierenrijk, Moritz and Frederike, have been euthanised. Both animals were already at an advanced age and had been suffering from health problems for a long time.

This year 13 pairs of wild European white storks (Ciconia ciconia ciconia) have built nests in the zoo!
