Chester Zoo Diffiycult Species Too See At Chester

I've only seen them once on the elephant house on my October 2019 visit
I went to the elephant house first thing thinking I'd see nothing but as I got to their enclosure I saw them both leaving their nest box and going to the food bowl to feed with the tree shrews who seem to have gone from that exhibit and have moved offshow because their still listed on current holdings on ztl
 
Have the Cloud Rats always been exhibited near the start of islands or is this relatively new? I’ve never noticed and can’t think where they would be.

There is just the one male in there and he is mainly fed inside. He doesn't really like coming out much. He shares his exhibit with the Prevost Squirrel's which are much more active. Very late in the day he sometimes comes outside in the summer months, but generally, he spends most of the time in the house part.

I think they (or maybe just the one going on the post above) have been there since Islands opened. I've only seen one in the elephant house before that was renovated. I noticed yesterday that although not signed before going up the path (that I saw) the in and out doors to the elephant house have changed over.

They were there when that area of Islands when that part of Islands opened in 2018 they were mixed with the tree shrew like they were when they were in the elephant house but then the cloud rats moved out and moved back to the elephant house with some more tree shrew and now their is only cloud rat in the exhibit as the tree shrews seem to have moved offshow

It happened sometime during the summer. The house was designed so that people with wheelchairs and pushchairs entered at the north side of the house and hqd a gentle slope down to the animal exhibits. Now they have to push wheelchairs and pushchairs up the slope to exit. It is completely illogical and not very visitor friendly. Also any visitors looking at the fish are in the way of people entering the house.
 
I managed to see a Clouded rat feeding at Pairi Daiza a couple of weeks ago. Someone got to it before me, so I gave them space to watch it and they were there for ages. The rat didn't rush back to it's box, but I didn't get a photo any better than what is in the gallery already.
