Chester Zoo dik-dik baby

According to the news article, they came from Colchester and Hannover.

The Phoenix Zoo used to keep gerenuk and Kirk's dik-dik together. I once took a buddy to the zoo and he asked what the dik-dik was, and I told him "a Kirk's dik-dik". He laughed and then pointed to the gerenuk and asked, "is that Kirk?"

The baby is on North West Tonight sometime in the next 20 mins and will be on Iplayer later on for those outside the Region. I believe the little one now has a name too. Must keep an eye out for that ever so interesting whiteboard! :D ;)

Giant Panda was written on the whiteboard! I repeat Giant Panda was written on the whiteboard!

By the way the baby Dik-Dik is called Cola (don't ask me why!)

Giant Panda! Well done Chester must of seen the thread and put it on there! ;)

I would watch it again as they explained why she is named Cola (not sure if thats the right spelling), I would share but my memory is terrible and I have forgotten! :o

I have just rewinded the whole thing and there was no explanation about her name.

I paused the TV and took a photo of the whiteboard with the words Giant Panda on it. I will upload this in a minute. I can assure you that it has not been doctored in anyway!

What programme was you watching then? As on Northwest tonight they clearly stated the meaning of the name! Means Graceful antelope.

And its Kola :D

BBC - Baby Antelope at Chester Zoo is bottle fed

On taun's video the White Board of Doom says 1.2 Dusicyon australis - the extinct Falklands Island Wofl! I think they're onto us kids!

I think from here on in the Dik Dik whiteboard can be disregarded as a source of info! :D

Genius!, 1.2 Dusicyon australis on the now fabled white board, someone at the zoo has a great sense of humour, brilliant!

Also Raphus cucullatus - Dodo!

Love it!

AND what I think is Panthera tigris sondaica - Javan Tiger. I think they've had a fun half hour in that office!

What are the 2 under giant panda, it looks like
khoki
togach
any ideas?
I love the fact that only a select few realise the "in-joke", of the white board, we will be the talk of the staff tearoom at the zoo.
But saying that i still believe we caught them out with the original posts.

Fair enough Taun I clearly wasn't listening propely! :o

I have now uploaded the picture for anyone who doesn't believe me!

I believe you - I just don't believe the White Board!

Knew it from the start. Now all the zoos will be trying to get press photos with a picture of a whiteboard behind riddled with 'Javan Rhinoceros', 'Ethiopian Wolf' and 'Tyrannosaurus rex'! :p
