Have just been reading the Spring issue of Z magazine and noticed that the arrival of a Dinosaur exhibition in July for three months. I just wondered if anybody knew anything more about this. Is it going to be similar to the one at Blackpool?

Apparently large animatronic/computerised dinosaurs will be located in the area around the Fountain Lawns. Although the exact details of how they work haven't yet been forthcoming. There'll also be tie-in merchandise in the Fountain Shop.

Ironically, on the way in the other day I overheard a little boy ask his mum if there would be dinosaurs, and she said no, it was a zoo not a museum. Dinosaurs can have a valid natural history message, although as a conservation organisation Chester is a little late to the game.

Looking forward to Chesterington's Tree-tops Zip Wire though... I can think of a few people I'd like to see come down it too. ;)

The magazine also mentions the members' area of the website, and the zoo are asking for suggestions as to what members want on their part of the zoo website. Anyone who is interested is invited to register with the zoo.

My preference would be a list of births, hatchings and arrivals.

I hope not, the Blackpool dinosaur park is dire. May be it will be something like the walking with dinosaurs show that toured last year. I wonder if there will be separate charge to see it.

Giant fiber glass dinosaurs certainly don't do it for me. Whoever I can see the kids enjoying it especially if they are animated.

I am right in thinking that during the latest round of updates at the zoo(Oaks Cafe, Face Painting moving next door etc) that half of the Fountain shop has already been transferred into a Dinosaur section selling stuffed toys etc aren't I? I have to say I think its more aimed at the little kids then anyone else and if it means I don't have to put up with kids shoving to the front of crowds just to turn around say there bored and moan they want to go to the play area I will put up with it.

Well its about time that Tim made use of the T-Rex enclosure that zoo built a few years ago now!!!

I think that they will have the model's similar to Blackpool's and the news on the members area of the website i think it should include regular updates like Colchester and Edinburgh websites:)

Im hoping its going to be like Walking with Dinousaurs as I went to see that a couple of years ago and was brilliant. Not sure if anybody has saw them but at the Natural History Museum in London they have some small scale animatronic Dinosaurs as well as a large scale T-rex animatronic I wonder if it is something similar to this or as saw recently at World Museum Liverpool a advance puppet with a puppeter inside mixed with animatronics.

Just please god dont be like Blackpools!

I heard the Walking with Dinosaurs exhibit was great. This was straight from the horses mouth as well - some of my 7 year olds from my class.

I have to say that, done well, it will be a good addition to the zoo. It's great to see the connection between dinosaurs and birds and with reptiles as well.

All in favour of the dinosaurs. Looking forward to that. And a great educational point. I remember as a kid spending ages practising saying Opisthocoelicaudia and learning what it meant ("tail bones hollow at the back"). Dinosaur obsession as a child is the closest you can get nowadays to a Classical education. :D

Zip wire is less my kind of thing, but I understand it's going out in the car park so will at least be easy to ignore and if it brings in some pennies then I can live with it.

I'm all in favour of the dinosaurs too, as long as they are nicely up-to-date with scientific research and avoid the stereotypical lumbering appearance which (thankfully) is beginning to leave the public mind!

Feathery raptors and downy tyrannosaurs, that's what we want ;)

Have just read in the z magazine (Zoo's members magazine) that the Dinosaurs will be back for 2012,except this time they will be at the zoo from March until October, and there will also be some new additions among them!
