Documentary that had an effect on your life?

Has there ever been a documentary that really had an effect on your life or way of thinking?

For me it was one called "The Little Zoo That Could". The documentary was about the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, and how they managed to survive three major hurricanes (Ivan, Dennis & Katrina). This documentary came on at a time when I was seriously looking for a career that really made me happy and more than just a job to get by. After watching this, I thought to myself that I would really like to be involved with an organization that really cared about animals. I then had the realization that I live in close proximity to the San Diego Zoo. I grew up going there with my mom and sister, but for some reason it never crossed my mind that I could work there. So I applied, got hired, and got the feeling of fulfillment and happiness that I wanted. I work for an organization that really cares and does all it can to help the environment through conservation, research, habitat & species preservation/protection, and education. And I owe everything to the realization that this one documentary brought on.

So, who else has a neat story of a documentary that had a profound effect on you?

Not one particular one but from a really young age 3 I think I apparently watched many wildlife documenteries so then facts eventually got hardwired into my system as a result a had a very complicated primary school experince and a rocky start to high school to my view on nature,

A friend of mine used to have physical punishment when at a young age ( as with many asian-based families) but until the age of seven his parents watched a doco on what effect it can have on your children and so they stopped,

I wouldn't say they had a major impact on my life, but there's one documentary that keeps coming back in my mind, even though i saw it ages ago. It was about the Phillippine eagle foundation, the breeding there and the birth of Pag Asa (the first chick ever in captivity translates "hope"). Amazing story, the parents didn't like each other and so two keepers paired up with them and managed to do AI with them.

I also watched the documentary about the sumatran rhino's, which ended with Emi's miscarriages. I got on the internet, found out Andalas was allready born and she was pregnant of Suci. I watched the cam daily and saw it go black one morning and then reappear a few hours later :) Very cool time.

I also enjoyed watching "The Blue Planet" and "Attenborough in Paradise". Very impressive doc's that stick in your mind...

Blue Planet and Planet Earth are some of my favorites too.
