"Saguaro National Park is an American National Park in Pima County, Southeastern Arizona. The 92,000 acre (37,000 ha) park consists of 2 separate areas. The Tucson Mountain District (TMD) about 10 miles west of the city and the Rincon Mountain District (RMD) about 10 miles east of the city that preserve Sonoran Desert landscapes, fauna, and flora, including the giant Saguaro cactus."

Both UngulateNerd and myself live near the Tucson Mountain District, west of downtown. Actually we live on the edge of the county owned Tucson Mountain Park, which joins seamlessly with Saguaro National Park West. Tucson Mountain Park is of interest to ZooChatters because it is the home of Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Our park on the westside is the more scenic of the two districts and also easier to visit because it's a two land road and you can go back and forth as you please. The east side (much less scenic) is a one-land and one-way loop road. However the east side has more backcountry trails that go into higher mountains for people who like to backpack.
