Hi guys! So was wondering if anyone knows why the bottom level is closed at omaha zoo, I did get to go on my trip and sure enough the bottom level was closed it said due to construction. But other then that sign I haven't been able to find any news on that online, I check their offical fb page and nothing, I checked their site which only says it is closed but doesn't give any detail as to why.

I had heard it re-opened, is that not true? It originally closed for Covid in 2020 and hasn't re-opened since. The zoo has not given a reason but it is probably for renovations.

Afaik it's still closed. There's been no announcements about it reopening yet, and I haven't seen anything online indicating a reopening.

well considering I was literally there last saturday, the bottom level was still closed. It said "Bottom level closed due to construction." But no other explanation

Okay, so it's still closed.

I don't think it was closed for covid; they've been doing some construction on the bottom level. There was a facebook post from last year talking about it; it's nothing big, just some minor renovations.

if it is minor, and it was a last year post, then I wonder what's taking so long with minor construction? You would think they would be done by now. I mean when I went I saw the bottom level and didn't look renovated or any signs of renovating. I saw some bird transport cages on the bottom floor but otherwise couldn't see what they are working on even from the top level.

Yes, I think it's just going slowly due to covid delaying a lot of construction ect.

Re. the cages, it looks like they're taking the opportunity to introduce some new birds whilst there is no visitor access on the ground level.

Probally that could be what the cages are for, though I couldn't see birds in those cages from where I was on the top level. Perhaps, I know they also have had a staff shortage issue going on with 85% of their food stands being closed.

Yes, the birds are only feed in the cages, and locked in their overnight I believe. The cages are also just an assurance for the birds; a safe space whilst they're settling in.

I work in industry. However bad the supply chain and labor markets have been for consumers, the industrial ones have been worse. If you need specialized equipment, and I imagine a zoo could have that, good luck.

Everything is going slow still lol. Absolutely not beyond imagination that minor renovations are taking that long.
