Dogs and cats in zoos

the video is from a zoo at Jinjoo in South Korea (the dog is a local breed called a Jindo). It doesn't look like the three-way mix would have lasted long, given the reception to the bear from the lioness and dog. It probably no longer exists in any case, as this 2006 article says the lioness is ten years old (and her and the dog had been together since 2002): SOUTH KOREA: A lion and a dog make unlikely roommates at a rural South Korean zoo
 
Zoos Victoria (Australia) have Maremma sheepdogs who are being trained to guard Eastern barred bandicoots in the wild from foxes and feral cats who have pushed them to the brink of extinction. They also have a maremma who is bonded to one of the dingoes at Healesville Sanctuary because her mate died.
 
How could I forget Raina the Rhodesian ridgeback who is the companion of Ruuxa the cheetah at San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
 
I have seen them in a couple zoos here in Wisconsin. Animal Haven Zoo has Jack Russel Terriers, and Glacier Ridge Animal Farm has a free-range cat.

That's a little different than having domestic dogs and cats "on display" at a zoo. Several zoos that have Cheetah Animal Ambassadors or Cheetah Run programs have dogs as companions for the Cheetah. Cheetahs can be fairly nervous cats and the dog helps calm them in stressful situations. They also provide great play buddies.

I'm opposed to "animal shows" even though they use animals rescued from shelters, but I have no problem with zoos having free roaming cats to help with rodent control so long as they are well-cared for.
 
I have seen a cat at Chester near the old cassowary enclosure but I'm pretty sure it lives in one of the houses behind the fence. :P

Keystone Safari, Grove City, PA- domestic dog (Great Pyrenees)

I think the Brookfield Zoo has (or had) domestic dogs in their Hamill Family Play Zoo. I know they did in 2010, but unsure if they still do...

Brookfield doesn't have Domestic Cat anymore.
 
This year Ive been to four Turkish zoos and I saw domestic cats in Bursa and Faruk Yalçın. I took a picture of a cat in the former zoo mentioned.

I;m currently looking after the most mentally lacking dog I have ever known. If you can find a zoo or other for it let me know :p
It is a miniature schnauzer, not got two brain cells to clash! Its been dumped on us by Mrs Pootles sister and her wife whilst they enjoy a European cruise.....
My/Our dog, the most intelligent mini dachshund just blanks it or states her dominance as required. Any dog recipes :D
