Nope.. But it seems that the changes won´t affect them. From what I saw, the works were starting just next to their enclosure. So it will probably be the area from the entrance gate to the beginning of snow leopard enclosure. (The building site starts just behind the toilets next to the entrance gate, it seems that they will partially build it on the old sidewalks, transforming it completely)
 
Sounds interesting, it's great that the zoo is doing well and making almost constant improvements in a difficult time for the country in general.
 
Will the Orangutang enclosure be included in the "Asian forest"? It and the sealions are really the only old style exhibits left in the zoo. They are more than adequate but the zoo is modernising so rapidly, I suspect theses are next on the list! also any dates for the Elephant bull?

From earlier in this thread. Seems its Hussein from Hamburg who is coming to Dublin.

But I thought there were plans for Upali to move sometime soon, even if not to Dublin?
 
Hussien is now to move to Planckendael within the next few months. Upali only has 2 young calves at Chester, i thought they would keep him a little longer than that unless they're having problems with him!
 
He is also listed as the father of Sundara.. who is turning eight years old this year, the standard age for first time breeding in some European collections.

Afaik that is correct- Sithami was mated at a very young age- about 5- by her father Chang, resulting in the unexpected birth of Sundara.

I never knew of any suggestion Upali was the father- unless it was made to 'shield' the visiting public from the distasteful idea of Elephant incest and a child-mother!

They are already waiting in Rotterdam Zoo. After the hyena's moved to their new enclosure there was a "spare" enclosure left next to the group of Asian lions Rotterdam already had. The female lions came from Magdeburg Zoo.

Haven't the three female lions from the Madgeburg 2007 litter already been shipped out. Kiburi and Kumari are at Chester whilst there sister (Kiba?) is at Ostrava Zoo, I think.
