Dublin Zoo Dublin zoo

The new Gorilla enclosure is being designed by Jones & Jones, they designed the Elephant trail so I am expecting great things!

Just a quick question for those of you at the Dublin Zoo (or in the Dublin area): I've been wanting to plan another European zoo trip all year, but my personal schedule has not allowed it. Now it appears that a window has opened up for me in mid- to late November. I would like to visit the Dublin Zoo during this time, but (in your opinion) does the November weather make it not not worth the trip? Some local input would be invaluable in helping me plan my trip. Thanks!

Its no worse than the weather can be during the summer just abit colder than the summer, the gardens will not be as good but thats about the only thing that will look different because of the time of year,in fact you will probably get a better view of some of the animals due to the lack of leaves on the trees.

weather

The weather in november is alot worse than the summer!!November can have alot of rain, and can be quiet cold so alot have the animals will have access to there inside housing, some maybe locked in.Like orangs and Gorrillas etc.In summer months most animals will have access 24hrs.Its still worth a vist the nice thing if you vist durning the week you might have the zoo to urself. Also it closes at 4.30pm in winter months.Hope this helps!:)

Visiting November 22

Thanks for the help, dirty harry and zoogiraffe!

All right, I'm actually coming -- I'll be visiting the Dublin Zoo on November 22nd. (Hope the weather is nice that day!) I'm flying in, on RyanAir, specifically to tour this zoo.

Please tell me, what is the best way to get from the Airport to the Zoo? I'm thinking it might be via taxi, but then again, that's probably expensive. Is there a cheaper way that's not real time-consuming? Also, should I get done with the Zoo early and want to do some Dublin sightseeing, is there good public transportation options to take me downtown, to the sites?
Thanks!

When I visited in may, I flew over on Ryanair for the day. I travelled from the airport to the city centre, where I changed buses and got on one that took me to the zoo. Unfortunately I cant remember what buses I got on as my Mum arranged it all, but I'm sure she used this website:
Home - Dublin Bus

You can get the airport bus into the city then get a bus to Pheonix park. A taxi would not be deadly depending on the time of day and traffic, Dublin Zoo is in the city. There is lots to see and do in Dublin!

If you are travelling direct to the zoo from the airport best way is probably the 748 airport bus to Heuston Station, a 10-15 minute walk from there.

Thanks, everyone, I'll factor in all of your recommendations -- and I'll likely contact the Zoo for their thoughts as well. When I used the link that ROZ gave (to the Dublin Bus company), they recommended taking Bus #747 to downtown (Upper O'Connell St). Then, from there, taking Bus #10 to the Infirmary Road/Phoenix Park Gate.

I'm very excited about my day at the Dublin Zoo.

Are there any plans for Emas and Wanita the Sumatran Tiger cubs from last year to move onto other collections yet? Thanks
