Tigers breed at the earliest 4 or 5, Daseep is 4 this year but Joao is only three in March, so I'd doubt you'll see any for the next two years at least.

This does raise the possibility that the zoo may just be repairing/reopening the bear ravine structure itself without necessarily creating an enclosure as part of the refurbishment.

While the obvious required work to the Tecton structures in the sea lion pools is important, I wonder about the longer-term considerations such as water type/quality, as modern parameters have caused other establishments to either come close to going out of sea lion husbandry, or in fact doing this (eg Woburn and Edinburgh). Concrete work is all well and good, but is Dudley therefore planning a longer term investment into a filtration/water treatment facility for the exhibit? This would be a substantial cost. I would be surprised if they bring in more Patagonian animals and, without wanting to be overly critical (their record is certainly no worse than several other UK sites that have held this species), perhaps this isn't an altogether bad thing.

The fact that no animals are mentioned in any of this publicity indicates that could be the case.

Hmm what can I say another senior moment:confused:,I posted this the day I visited so how they could be in my rucksack is beyond me:p:p,also another slight problem I never have a rucksack when going round a zoo!Also if I was going to smuggle an animal at Dudley it wouldn't be from this house and it certainly wouldn't be a primate!!!;)
 
It would be the geriatric Geoffroy's Cat were it myself ;)

I was told by a member of staff when I visited on Sunday that they would be replaced by Titi Monkeys. I wasn't sure from what she told me if they hadn't arrived yet, or if they were offshow. She also didn't say which species.

They have arrived,are off-show at present.They have got 2 male Red Titi.
 
Monal pheasant

A female Himalayan monal pheasant has arrived at DZG to form a breeding pair with their resident male. The bird translocated from Tilgate Nature Centre in West Sussex and has joined the male in the triple aviaries after a 30 day quarantine period.

Yes it was certainly a welcome change after the clichéd valentines day posts that had been released recently.

Also a pair of red ruffed lemurs celebrated their 10th birthday today. They were hand-raised and there are some pretty cute photos from this time on this link:
