Exactly so! Eggs hatch, producing hatchlings. Babies are born - after they have been borne (=carried) by their mothers.So if I understand well from your post, born is used exclusively for viviparous animals and hatch for oviparous ones? I was completely unaware of this, and it surprises me a bit. Thanks for improve my English learning![]()
A quick question about species from the past does anyone know how many Bison were kept at the zoo and between which years please.

Bison- in the 1960's they used to be kept in what is now the Lion enclosure. There was a small group of about five. Did they later have as many as twenty...?
A Gelada baboon was born at the Zoo on 25th January - it has yet to be sexed.
