Pink-headed imperial pigeons are doing fine at Duisburg. At the end of 2021 the first young was raised succesfully - a German zoo-first breeding. The parent-birds wanted however more ofsprings and untill now 6 young have been hatched

The two manatees are almost not visible at the moment by technical problems. They are in the separation enclosure

During my visit two weeks ago, they were visible ;D
Around a week ago 4 activists jumped in the dolphin pool during a show! Luckly the dolphins weren't hurt en the activists were taken away by the police. I understand that people don't like dolphins in captivity (me included) or zoos in general, but doing this is completely unacceptable! The zoo has also filed charges against the activists.
Recently 10 Plumed whistling-ducks (Dendrocygna eytoni) hatched, I believe that this is a zoo first breeding for Duisburg.
Somewhere in July atleast 1 European wildcat (Felis silvestris silvestris) was born.

Last weekend female Atlantic bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus truncatus) Debbie gave birth to a male!

Nice news to see! This would be the very first 3rd generation dolphin born at the zoo, as his mother AND grandmother were both born (and are still living) at the zoo as well. Fingers crossed he continues to do well.
The only downside, this is likely a father to daughter breeding, since I believe Ivo is the only mature male housed at the zoo.

The father would have to be Ivo, as the only other male, Dobbie is just six years old, so still a little too young to breed.
Debbie, though, is a first time mother at the age of seven; making her Duisburg's youngest mother on record.

On the 30th of September 18-year old male Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) El-Roi was euthanised. He suffered from age-related problems, El-Roi was born in Tierpark Hellabrunn on the 27th of May 2004 and arrived at Zoo Duisburg in 2006.

Does anyone know who Koala Godarra was born to and what year? I believe it to be Gooni, but with her having Tarni in 2020, and Yunga in 2021, where would Godarra fit in?
