Some other changes since my last visit in 2016 - Visayan warty pigs in the revamped enclosure that used to hold red river hogs; the fruit bat tunnel has doubled in width to provide more flying and roosting space; a new development still underway at Lemur Lake comprising improved accommodation for the lemurs and a floating pontoon through the reeds which both lemurs and visitors will be able to share.

I'll continue to gradually upload photos to the gallery.

Also - there are currently 4.3 Sulawesi crested macaques, It's a non-breeding group but there should be some new arrivals 'soon' so that they can start breeding again.

I can remember when they used to have a really large group- about 20 of them. Orginally they lived in a cage in the courtyard area before moving to the open air enclosure.

Gorilla born on 15th November to female, Bahasha. Gender currently unknown but doing well so far
Good news and a real surprise too- for some reason she has not been pregnant before- apart from possibly a miscarriage or failed birth, a long time ago.

In September 2019, three captive-bred male pink pigeons travelled from Jersey Zoo to Mauritius to return genes missing from the wild population. On 29th February 2020, the first chick (named Eureka) hatched to one of these three males (named Kewtoo); in due course, Eureka will be reintroduced to the wild population.

Longleat mentioned plans to open the drive through only on a local news item.

This is really interesting & I wonder if other zoos will use their ‘conditions’ such as closed playgrounds & indoor viewing as a template? I found the members only days & pre-booked time slots very interesting!
I thought this too. There are so many things about Jersey that other zoos could use as a template.

I haven't been able to find any details in ZooChat, but I believe that in past few days Tierrpark Berlin has admitted some visitors on a similarly restricted basis.

She has been named 'Amari'.

Yes, I noticed that. The vote was fairly evenly split, no runaway winner. There is already an 'Amare' (a silverback) and one other 'Amari'(10 year old female) both in the USA. But none in Europe.
