Uuuuuuugh this one took long, I decided halfway through that I was gonna do it without maps. And thank goodness I did, since they would never have fit in the guide. Heck, the name doesn't even fit

Did... did you just translate a name? Metzelaar is a name and thus can not be translated

Wait, was is made by a guy called Mister Metzelaar? I just assumed it was named Bricklayer greenhouse because is was made with bricks or something

Yes, it's named after a person's name. And even if it was a translation of the word 'bricklayer', it would have been written as 'metselaar', not 'metzelaar'.

Out of interest in some of the species and given the mention of making up names, do you perhaps have a list of the scientific names?

The three tree snails had names, but they were very similar to each other and every website had a different name for them
15 Partula hyalina
16 Partula affinis
17 Partula nodosa

The gleaming flower beetle only had a name for the c. a. subsuturalis subspecies (Gleaming fruit chafer) so I had to improvise
19 Chlorocala africana

The Great plains darkling beetle was especially strange because the whole genus doesn't have a name. I had to go back from species to genus to genera to family to find that they were under the darkling beetles
33 Embaphion muricatum

The leaf insect also didn't have a real name apart from just "leaf insect" which I thought was too vague
35 Phyllium philippinicum

The rest were mostly named, though there were still some inconsistencies. I can have a full latin name list if you want

I have searched for an overview of the insect house for so long. Thank you so much.

One question
What species are these great plains darkling beetle
and does artis no longer hold the fregatte island beetle?

Embaphion muricatum

And you can thank @JurassicMax for the layout as well as the species lists for Artis

During my most recent visit the terrarium that used to house the Fregatte island beetle was empty.

I still can't believe i missed this whole place at my first visit

Which is exactly why I made these guides!

Well, also because animals can be difficult to find and it's more fun to have a guide with you. But me being an infamous idiot and missing a bunch of cool areas during earlier zoo visits was definitely a part of it

Aaaaaand the inevitable corrections page

And that was Artis! I'm going to fix and upload the Apenheul guides, and at some point harass people on the Dutch forums into giving me a species list for Wildlands.

During the summer vacation I hope to get a list for Avifauna, after that, I'll have to wait for some people to help me with the lesser known zoos, like Zoo Parc Overloon and Landgoed Hoenderdaell and then I'm as good as finished with the Netherlands.

Then I'll kidnap KevinB for Antwerp and Pairi Daiza

No need, I've got you covered as regards to wildlands and overloon (fish excluded). I do have a list for Hoenderdaell, though it might be a bit outdated
