Dutch zoo guides

I'll also be visiting de Orchideeënhoeve (a large butterfly garden) soon and hopefully make some guides for that.

From my visit in Ecomare about a month ago I can also make maps for their North Sea Aquarium, if anyone wants that
I would, it's been so long since ive visited i'd love to see a guide made

I can upload the Non-map guides now, or upload map versions in a few weeks. Usually I'd just upload mapped versions, but in the case of Ecomare it has mostly animals from the same region (the North sea). So it will probably end up looking something like this guide that I have for Aquazoo, except without the Tropical aquarium addition

I'm uploading GAIAzoo's maps today, but not all of them. I'm not doing the taiga aviary (yet) because of the uncertainty surrounding the animals, and I'm not doing the vreemde vogels aviary and the LimburgHUIS yet because... Well, they're just not finished yet

And after two years, I'm FINALLY visiting GaiaZOO again. So I can finally properly re-make these guides that are actually accurate.

I'm also visiting Blijdorp and Wildlands again, if there are any major updates I'll update those as well.

Alright then. Here's our current planning:

- I had a great visit to GaiaZOO today, and I managed to see just about every species. I got myself a full species list to create updated zoo guides. For a lot of the guides I already have all of the minimaps and animal pictures, but for some of the guides I'll have to make some pretty annoying new ones (mainly the European fish and Worldwide-occuring birds). I'll see which ones I can finish before I leave to France in roughly a week, then I'll upload whichever ones are left afterwards. Sadly, the Puna aviary was closed so I wasn't able to get a list for this beautiful aviary. Seeing the current trend of Bird Flu, this aviary may be closed permanently and will be rebuilt / refurbished at some point in the future, so a Zoo Guide probably wouldn't hold up very long anyway...

- As some of you probably noticed from my 200-picture bombing of the gallery, I recently visited Amersfoort. However, just as with the first guides, I'm having trouble with the Malawi cichlids in the Dwarf crocodile enclosure. With help, I managed to identify a few, but there's still 4 I need identification for. Once I have these, I'll finally have completed Amersfoort's maps, seeing that I never managed to upload the Ancient city maps because of the same cichlid issue.

- Maps for Ecomare and Orchideeënhoeve have slightly stagnated as I started a zoo design project. I do plan to start working on these again as soon as I can. Because I do think people should visit more mini-zoos like these.

- During the latter half of the Summer vacation, I'll be going on my yearly trip to Avifauna. I'll be updating those maps afterwards. Sadly, their new vulture aviary will be finished somewhere after my visit, so I won't be able to make a guide for that. Avifauna, just like GaiaZOO, is one of the least visited zoos for ZooChat, and there isn't a local I can ask for updates.
Speaking of things that aren't finished:

- For a few zoos, I'm waiting for construction to finish with their newest region before I make the new guides. This includes Zie-zoo (Waiting for the new Vulture aviary), Aquazoo Leeuwarden (Waiting for the new Churchill creek region), Beekse Bergen (Waiting for the new Savanna aviary). Other zoos I will try to visit at some point. But as I'm starting a new school soon I have no idea whether my schedule will allow any more "extracurriculars".

As for the other zoo guides: For Belgium I sadly have very few means to visit the zoos, no matter how much I want to... I also had some serious trouble with Monde Sauvage's guides as I somehow couldn't find photos for some of the Safari animals (which you would assume would be easy to find...). At some point my brain said "Nah, let's make a Fantasy zoo", much to my dismay.
Visiting Belgium is a bit difficult for me, both in terms of distance and personal independence. So I'm pretty much completely dependent on the Belgians on those zoo guides.

And as if I'm not already bad enough with not finishing things: I've set my sights on a new project...
(Cue dramatic music)

Zoo Guides Europe!

With some help with ZC's other Gharial, I made Zoo Guides for Parc Des Oiseuax in France. For personal use, in this case, but I hope to upload them after my visit. I have my sights on zoos like Beauval and Doué-la-Fontaine in France (because I'm a maniac, apparently), and Duisburg and Leipzig in Germany. I know we get the occasional German or Norwegian in this thread, so any help will be appreciated (although I won't be starting ZGE any time soon, so don't start messaging me just yet...)

With that, I hope to see you all soon enough for some long-overdue redemption for my first GaiaZOO guides!

If you still want to do the Monde Sauvage guide, I visited that place earlier this year and I think I can give you a comprehensive list of the safari animals. The photos won't be processed and uploaded in the very near future, but I can compile a list from them if you want it.

Note: The sturgeon present was signed as Russian sturgeon, but it had the typical snout shape and colouration of a Sterlet (it was a different individual from older photos in the gallery, unless Sturgeons go through seasonal colouration changes...). Three-spined sticklebacks were also signed but nowhere to be found. I stood at the aquarium for half an hour and didn't see them, so I assume they weren't actually present.

Note 2:
The snakes and Dormice can only be seen from outside. The mice from the upper floor (which you come across earlier on the route), and the snakes in front of the entrance

Only two more guides to go for GaiaZOO, meaning I'll finish it before I leave on vacation. Does anyone happen to know what fish species is held in the odd birds aviary? GaiaZOO has Goldfish and Golden orfe according to ZTL, but I don't know which one is held in the aviary (maybe both?)

I won't be able to finish them before I leave, and by the time I come back to make them your list might as well be just as outdated as the one I have currently. I would appreciate updated lists from any other Belgian zoos you visit, after I come back at least. I want to start updating and translating them so I can upload Dutch versions to LaafseKikkers

I certainly saw golden orfes in the odd bird/alien species aviary , so I think you probably safely add that species to your graphic.

I will try to give you updated lists for Planckendael and Antwerp later this year (August-September), would that work for you?

Thanks! I knew there were yellow/orange fish present, I just wasn't sure if it was goldfish or golden orfe

Well, I return in early August so that would be perfect timing

And, of course... It wouldn't be a Mr Gharial thread if I didn't mess something up...

Some mini-corrections:
GaiaZOO - Taiga aviary.png GaiaZOO - Tapir Terrarium.png
(Nothing major, I just forgot the Swan goose's red list status and I misspelt temmicks bristlenose as temnicks bristlenose, as well as using the wrong leafcutter)
