Not sure if the Japanese sika deer is still there, but I did see the fallow deer quite recently.
There should also be violet turaco in the Africa aviary.
In July I also saw the one remaining Japanese sika deer (kept in the Asian paddock, just as the axis deer and antelopes it has acces to both Banteng and Camel/Przewalski sections). There should also be one Mesopotamic fallow deer left in the mix there according to one of the park staff.
Switch the blackbucks and Père david’s deer around I’d say. The smaller deer and antelopes are able to fit under the wire, but the David’s are too big for that I think.Man, I was really hoping someone would say the opposite and confirm that the deer were actually not present... Looks like the Car Safari will have to be a three-parter, folks!
Thanks! I already noticed a few unsigned species I had to add (like the Hamerkop, Sitatunga and Carps), but I can't add the unsigned species if I don't actually see those species!
Just to be clear
Forest paddock:
Javan Banteng
Blackbuck
Desert paddock:
Bactrian camel
Przewalski's horse
Can go in both paddocks:
Japanese Sika
Persian fallow deer
Père David's deer
Chital

I though it'd be something like that, but I just had to ask to make sure

I am sorry if the list I sent you caused any confusion or lack of clarity. I went by what I saw in terms of animals and signage. I don't know the Beekse Bergen that well as I only visit a maximum of once every year.
I saw the wire, but did not realize the smaller animals would be able to fit under it. Thanks for the very useful additional information, Jarne.
I also only noticed it later in the day when a single blackbuck and the sika deer were in the camel section. They mostly seem to stick to the banteng part. Not your fault, I'd have made the same mistake. Besides, you did mention that there was a possibility of the deer being able to go onto multiple paddocks

I can help with Planckendael and Antwerp.Right then. With the exception of Elephant valley that's Beekse Bergen finished. In a few weeks I'll be visiting Avifauna again, so that update will be coming soon enough.
For some other zoos I'm waiting on projects for updates (Australian experience in Ouwehands, Churchill creek in Aquazoo, and the new bird-of-prey aviary in Zie-zoo, Tropical pond in Orchideeënhoeve).
I waited a little too long with finishing/uploading Ecomare, so I'm planning on visiting that again at some point to finish and upload those.
I do want to update and translate the Belgian guides so I can also upload those to the Dutch/Flemish forums. But sadly, my usual informant is temporarily (hopefully) unable to visit zoos in Belgium, so if anyone can help me with Belgian zoos (with priority going to Planckendael and Pairi Daiza) I would greatly appreciate that
