Well, I had a lovely visit to Blijdorp today, did a very necessary double-check and ended it with a lovely dinner of me eating my words

Why are there ringed teals in the Flamingo Aviary?

I am aware Blijdorp no longer has a South American Aviary, but they are really out of place in 'Eurasia'

I'm doing the North Sea section of the Oceanium because the signage sucks, but then also not doing any of the other marine sections because I'm great at identifying North Sea species but terrible at Pacific species.

I've identified all but one of the anemones so there's still one mystery anemone in there. Do note that the Goldsinny wrasse and hermit crab can only be found in the waterfall / wave tank and the Flounder and Starfish (and maybe also the Periwinkle) are only found in the central tank.

This part of the North Sea Oceanium doesn't have any signage at all (as well as the Bass rock side tank) so I thought it'd be fun to make ID cards for these more than others. But it also means I'm not 100% confident in the identifications.

Lots of emptying in the Conservation centre unfortunately. Also unfortunately for me I made a bunch of maps for animals no longer here in a version of the Blijdorp guides that never saw the light of day

Blijdorp - Victoria conservatory

The victoria conservatory is also a Botanical greenhouse so there's multiple plants here but since Blijdorp is really promoting the Rwandan warmwater lilies more I decided to add them. They have quite a large sign but no map to show where they came from.


All aquatic species are found in the big waterlily pond, the guppies and such that are separated are also found in a smaller pond in the north wing of the Conservatory complex (to the left when you enter)
