Eagle Heights buys cheetah from Tierpark Berlin

On another thread titled "Rabbiting in Essex with a Cheetah » Eagle Heights".

l watched a u tube video with a Eagle Heights employee stating they bought a cheetah from Tierpark Berlin Zoo.

Is it common practice for european zoos to sell animals to each other?

Endangered animals for sale by accredited zoos.

I thought zoos in the USA with AZA accreditation were not permitted to sell, only exchange. Also l would be really surprised if zoos in Australia with accreditation ZAA were selling animals.

Do l approve??? I think it is an opportunity to raise funds so it is not without some merit, however l think it could lead to allot of potentially negative issues.

I had always assumed it was not condoned by accredited zoos.

One of the biggest perpetrators within the AZA are the ZSSD.

Personally I think it’s a perfectly legitimate way of disposing of surplus stock (regardless of the animals status in the wild), as you say it raises funds.
I honestly don't see any difference if a collection, be it private or public, acquires their animals through financial transaction, loans or exchanges as long as the animals go to a facility that can adequately meet their needs.
