And a decision which brought the zoo a lot of negative publicity.
And particularly as they now have a group of seven, seemingly without problem, even if they are still looking to rehome the older litter.

I haven't seen the Giant Otters at Chester (yet..) but I'll bet they still have a lot of general visitors who miss the Sealions. I agree the Giant Otters are a very good addition to the Collection but to my mind its a pity they couldn't have kept both.
most people think the Giant Otters are the Sea Lions always makes me chuckle![]()
A pair of Egyptian vultures have arrived and can be seen in the old great grey owl aviary near the bongos.
Wow! Always wanted to see one of these, just nearly deafened a gibbon in excitement! [lets see who gets that]
This makes the arrival of giant pandas even juicier, as I don't think I can justify going before they arrive so I will get to see new Egyptian vulture, Andean cock-of-the-rock, Giant pandas, Persian fallow deer, marbled polecat and who knows what else that arrives between now and then
Also, get to see the things I missed last year such as blue-eyed black lemur, Asian golden cat, Buff-cheeked gibbon and a few others (plus, sun bears weren't there when I went). Exciting times ahead![]()
Think it has moved to the african aviary next to hunting dogs?so where have they moved the black stork that was in that avariy

Aren't they in the former camel paddock?
They are in the former camel paddock.
I think the vultures in the former great grey owl aviary, will be a temporary thing as the current raven aviary, butted onto the camel house was built specifically for Egyptian vultures, which they could not get hold of at the time.
Can I ask people not t suggest too many unusual species? Animal people at Edinburgh Zoo read this and they just love going down the "unusual" route. Give us at least 6 stable months please? At least to get used to where everything is! lol
We are zoochatters Simon, this is what we do
I think the next few months will bring in a few surprises more.
I sure hope so because the Black and White sleeping balls of fluff are not going to make me visit, but some of the stuff I have heard is going to arrive will!!!We are zoochatters Simon, this is what we do

Really they are getting Fairy Penguins? that would be cool. I think finding another female king penguin would be good too... as there is only one there now it would be a shame if the iconic Edinburgh Zoo animal was no longer kept there
