Some news on the cats... the small female golden cat is in the first enclosure as one goes up the hill, but one plan is to move all three to the area around the sun bears, developing the area and in the process displacing the aardwolves and mongoose.
There was no sign of the clouded leopard, apparently she's small and really timid; it took three days just for her to come out of her crate. Many of the keepers and staff haven't seen her, but one of the keepers was kind enough to show me some photographs he'd snapped in the raceway between the on-show area and the off-show den. She's in the third enclosure down from the tigers, the wolverines have access to both of the first two.
I had a brief opportunity to check out the off-show margay enclosure, but didn't see the cats.
The Penguin Rock developments look really good, the pool is being landscaped and given a textured finish, new path surfaces are being laid and much of the horrible wire/glass fence has gone. I'll post some photos later.
The old sea lion pool was empty at the weekend, the pelicans were in the old beaver area.
Apparently the zoo is well ahead of its 2012 targets - as is HWP - which is excellent news for the society.
