It's nice to know that with the rapid pace of change in the modern world something will always stay the same. The sun will always rise, summer will fade into autumn and the media will utterly fail to report on science.
 
the latest i have heard is that the sea eagles should be going either this week (if not already), or by the end of the month and that what will replace them is just a space for the barbary macaques, I have heard it will be your typical rock enclosure that houses them in so many other zoos - at least, so I hear

not to play devil's advocate, but Samir was at the age of sexual maturity - along with Bertus, he was only ever being raised in a bachelor twosome, before they would go onto other zoos to breed. Could be that this leads to the enclosure being developed upon more to make a breeding group - although several staff members have told me that is unlikely. the zoo is bleeding money, and don't have enough to give any staff member a Christmas bonus or anything like that.

Ah of course, corrected it. Been a long day. I heard turkey from some of my sources but could be wrong.

According to an ICBP Newent blog they will be getting the Steller's sea eagles from Edinburgh .

If they take as long as their sister zoo (HWP) to redevelop enclosures, then you and "the monkeys" could be waiting a very long time?! :mad:

Shouldn't take that long i imagine, hopefully this is the start of a process to clear out the monkey house, it should make for an entertaining enclosure for the public.

I'm no too optimistic that the public will like it - had a great Stellar Sea Eagle's enclosure for their needs and mimicking their habitat and yet people were constantly whining that the eagles did not have enough space to fly long distances.

Quite agree Rica, it was a fantastic aviary and again ignorance has done for a rare and unusual species.
In my opinion they should have gone north to HWP, but alas......
