Edinburgh Zoo Edinburgh Zoo News 2017

Do you know what the other unfinished exhibit will be?

The other unfinished exhibit was at floor level, with a glass front coming up to waist height. The floor in the exhibit was covered in sand and there were a couple of heat lamps hanging over the exhibit. A few rocks were scattered about the enclosure. My guess would be a Tortoise species, but time will tell.

Thank you!

Visited today:
  • work is continuing in Brilliant Birds - it looks like all the wooden walkways are being renewed - hopefully will be open again within a few weeks
  • at least 2 Gelada Baboons have been born
  • I only seen 2 Malayan Tapir so Baku may finally have left the collection
  • the Barbary Macaque enclosure is still empty

This enclosure is now home to Pancake Tortoise - the coral enclosure within Wee Beasties is still empty.

Baku is the 6th calf to come from mum Sayang. She had two boys, Vasan and Kamal and two girls called Indah and Nadira to previous male Ka. With new male Mogli she has had another two boys, Mekong and then Baku.

These are the births since female Sayang arrived from London Zoo.
